Peace + Love = Whatever you Want!

I've been busy creating some new Rhinestone Files for you. Just click on the image above to enlarge and getter a better look!

I'm sure you've seen the cute shirts that say Peace Love (you fill in the blank). Now you can make your own!

You just start out with the base file (EC00233) and then add on what you like. I've listed a few tonight so you can go peruse and see if there is anything you like. If you don't see what you are looking for, just let me know and I will be happy to list for you.

Currently available are:

EC00234 - the Pink Breast Cancer Awareness ribbon with the word HOPE

EC00235 - a cute 4 Leaf Clover or Shamrock with the word IRISH

EC00237 - a sweet Kitty Cat with the word MEOW

Now the great thing about these files is that you can use them as stand-alone designs as well. Use them with or without the words. It's all up to you!

FREE RHINESTONE PATTERN!

You all know that I have been working on some rhinestone patterns and thanks to the feedback on the forum and via email, I have started uploading some files to the store.

For those of you who have never tried a rhinestone pattern, I have shared one called "Butterfly - 2 Ways". Simply go to the Paperthreads store add it to your cart and download.

It includes all the formats (.AI, .GSD, .KNK, .WPC, .SVG & .MTC)

It also comes with photo instructions so don't be afraid to try!

Happy (almost) New Year Everyone!

Time continues to fly doesn't it?!

As a child it seemed like it took forever to get to Saturday and Sunday and NOW my weeks are flying by so fast that every time I turn around I'm already into the weekend and even then don't have a moment to relax! DH lovingly points out that it has to do because of my gasp age! Is that it OR is it that I have so very much I want to do that I'm trying to cram it all in and I don't notice the time go by? I hate to think it's because I'm on a geriatric slippery slope....

Speaking of set in my ways, DH finally has pulled me kicking and screaming into the current century (computer-wise that is). He insisted that I could no longer continue running on my Windows XP (which I had no problems with!) and instead upgrade to Windows 7. Harumphhh!

So we did it. Everything has been upgraded and with that begins my learning curve on the windows applications and their "ribbons" which I personally detest (though I understand many people love them). Finally found the right settings so that my dear dear KNK can cut as well as some of my other programs (i.e. embroidery) to work.

So I guess I'm good for another 10 years LOL!

I think that I had mentioned previously, but I have been really getting into rhinestone designing and am even selling some finished iron transfers in my etsy store but have run into a little glitch with the conversion to .svg files. Once I can get that straightened out I hope to start listing in the stores. While we are in winter my mind is already wandering to the summer. Because of that I am sharing here a pic of two files that will eventually go into the store. If you have any ideas or wants or needs, let me know, you know I always love a challenge!

So finally, back to the topic...New Years! How are you all celebrating? We're not really planning on anything crazy, probably a movie and then sleep (oh my goodness geezerville here I come!)I did make it all the way to midnight last year but not sure if it will happen again this year LOL!

Any resolutions? I can't think of any right now other than the usual try to loose weight and exercise more. Maybe I should pick some that I can actually manage like: Eat Chocolate EVERYDAY, watch a few more tv shows, don't worry when I see a mountain of laundry. Those sound like a good start!

Well I hope everyone is well and that 2012 brings you all the Health, Love and Prosperity we all can use.

Where in the World had Eddita been?

I have been trying to play catch up on everything and wanted to take a moment to let you know all is well.

I actually went away for almost 2 weeks (out of the country away!!!) I was fortunate enough to have saved enough money to take my Mom to visit the family in Mexico (whom we have not seen for almost 20 years because of life and circumstances).

We went down just the two of us and had a really wonderful time. We started the first week in a town called Teapa outside of Villahermosa. That is where her brother (my uncle) and family all live. The cousins I remember as being 13 are now very much adults with families of their own. It was wonderful to reconnect with all of them again and now with the advent of "Skype" will be able to stay in touch! Everyone was so wonderful and can I share with you...we ATE very well! They were wonderful enough into fixing all of my favorite meals...YUMMY!

After that we went to Mexico City and got to visit with the other part of the family and do some great sightseeing and shopping! We came back exhausted but very happy and content. Attached below are some pics.

As far as creativity goes, I have really gotten into rhinestoning. I have a few files that are almost finished to be uploaded to the store. If anyone has suggestions or wants please let me know and I will be very happy to create.

For those of you who don't know I also have created an Etsy shop for finished items (you can see it on the left side toolbar). If you prefer a finished item ready to iron on your shirt and you do not see it in my shop, let me know and I will be happy to create a custom item for you.

What? Snow in October?!!!

I'm sure it's happened before, but I can't remember the last time we had snow in October! I knew they had been calling for it but I thought...Nawww can't be, but I was proved wrong yet again LOL!

We even turned the gas pilot back on in the fireplace so we could warm up a little. Dogs enjoyed it though running around in it and then watching it come down from the window. I looked out on the porch and even saw a cardinal sitting on the post of the column and about a dozen fat red robins hanging around.

So in between cleaning up and watching a movie with hubby on the couch I was able to finish up a new Santa Clause with Phrases Digi file and upload it to the store. I started it about a couple of weeks ago and just couldn't stop tweaking it. Since the look in his eye made me feel like he was watching me, I included 3 cute phrases that could be used along with the Santa for Christmas cards or tags.

Now I've started to work with rhinestones and just got supplies in this week. I can't wait to share what I have made with you and will also be including some great patterns in the store. If there is anything special you are looking for, just drop me a line and I will see what I can do.

Did you ever have one of those days?

I just don't know where my head went on Tuesday. I felt like the boy that had a "no good very bad day"!

It started when I went into work after being on vacation and stood at the door just trying to wrack my brain and remember the alarm code for the door! Thank goodness I have a wonderful friend/coworker who forgave me for calling her at 6 in the morning and helped me out. On the bright side it was one of the two numbers I had been debating between (eek!)

Then the whole day was stressful trying to play catch up but I was looking forward to going to a gathering of crazy sewing ladies at my local Joanne's so that was something.

Five o'clock comes and I'm beat. I get home, remind DH I'm going out later and get dinner going. During that time, I get a call from my friend/coworker asking if I'm missing something...I had left my cell phone in her car! Argh...I really hate being without it. Not so much about missing calls but it is important in case of emergency.

Oh well...at least I'm going out but then I can't find my motorcycle key which took me about 20 panicky minutes to find (I had left in my jacket pocket the last time I rode) and then headed out. Now DH said I should warm up the bike so I did, but when I tried to back it down the driveway, I lost my footing and dropped the bike. I quickly turned it off and turned off the gas but because of the angle just couldn't get under it to pick it up. Fortunately DH had heard and came running to my aid.

After he got the bike up he told me to go inside, put on my PJs and have a cup of cocoa. I asked why and he said that he checked with the magic 8 ball and when he asked if I should leave the house it said "all signs point to NO!!!"

So I went in frustrated but as usual he was right. I had thought about jumping in the car but it really wouldn't have been smart to go out...what with no phone and so many things just not going my way. Sometimes you just have to say "UNCLE" to the universe and go inside and relax.

The rest of my week went better and I have been working on a new file just in time for Halloween which I am sharing here for FREE until 9PM. After that you can find it in the store.

It is hard to see in the picture, but I designed it so that the bat's head can be pulled out a little to give a 3-d look. It is super easy to cut out and stringing (if you want to put more than one on a line) is a snap. I simply tied a knot in the bottom bat, ran the second bat as far down as I wanted, tied that in place and then did the same thing with the last one. I am going to make a number of strings and then hang them up outside from out tree out front for Halloween.

Well off to get my laundry going and cleaning off the Craft I mean DINING room table!

Fall is in the Air!

Hubby and I haven't been anywhere for awhile and so we packed up all of the dogs and took a few days off and went to the mountains. Previously we had always had the 3 of them crated but this time, while G-Pup still had to ride in one (kind of hard to get a cat who thinks he's a dog to sit still) we tried the "Pet Hammock" and halters for Toby and Daisy. They LOVED it! It really did a good job of keeping their hair off of the seats as well as any footprints. We weren't sure about it at first but no problems with them at all.

Here is the motley crew right before we left:

The drive up was lovely and we got to see the leaves starting to change...what a nice time. We also got in some good relaxing and actually went to a store that had a self guided glass blowing tour. LOTS of rain though the last couple of days and while we thought it would be nice driving up at the higher elevations, it was more like a Stephen King scary fog movie. We couldn't even see 5 feet in front of us and tractor trailers were speeding at us in the opposite direction! We were very glad to be back at the hotel after that.

Once we got back I sat down and finished up a file that was half done when I left. It is an "ll Occasion Magic Window Card" and is now available in the store (here is the link: EC00210) in all formats and as I am a visual learner, I created an instructions video and uploaded to YouTube so you can all see how easy it is to put together.

3 frustrating hours later my machine is calibrated!

My fondest memories of childhood are those of my Mom reading us the annotated Alice in Wonderland. It was a large and heavy book and it took some time for her to finally read it all to us.

The part that I always loved was when the Queen of Hearts gives Alice a Flamingo to use as a croquet mallot. From that time forward, I have always loved those birds whose legs seem so very fragile.

As I was thinking about my Mom and her storytelling I started working on a cutting file of a flamingo, but because of the legs are so thin comparative to the body, I ended up opting to create a digi file and this is where my 3 frustrating hours came into play!

When I originally purchased my KNK Maxx, I remember calibrating it and from that time on never had a problem with print and cuts. When I went to cut out this file however, I was WAAAYYYY off and couldn't figure out what was wrong until I opened the manual (when in doubt always pull it out). I started reading it to see what suggestions it had and don't you know it, in reviewing, it suggests you write down your settings in case you ever have a problem with the software. That's when it hit me, I had had a problem and had to reinstall and as such all of my settings were lost. Now did I write down my previous settings? Of course not...I mean that would be logical right?!

So to make a long story even longer...after numerous attempts (3 hours worth!) I finally got the whole enchilada calibrated and working so that I could finish working on my file. What is the moral of the story? For all of you Maxx owners who have already gone through the trouble of calibrating your plotting settings for print and cuts if you have not done so already, make sure you go look at what you have it set at and write it down in your book to avoid what I went through. PHEW!

In any event I think the hard work was worth it and I hope you will too when you see my Pretty Pink Flamingo Digi File (EC00207) in the store. I provided 3 separate stamps and the info on sizing is in the description. You can add embellishments to your finished item to make it fit a specific occasion if you want (like the little party hat in my birthday card pictured).

Well, thank goodness everything worked out and thanks to my Mom for inspiring this cute file.

One more day until the weekend...

This week for some reason just seems to be dragging on and on but if I squint my eyes really hard I think I can see Friday on the horizon!

I'm not sure if it's because the heat of the summer is starting to go away or if it's because I can feel a tease of fall in the air, but I have been in full "crafty" mode! At work, I have my little notebook and I find myself doodling when I have free moments here and there.

So when I recently just signed up for the Christmas Card Swap that Sue (aka baracudasue) is hosting over at the Paperthreads site, I pulled out my notebook and created my latest file, Holiday Birds ! I even threw in a snowflake for good measure!

If you are interested in joining the swap, there is plenty of room and you only have to make 10 cards. The deadline for signup is tomorrow, 30 September, so if you are interested make sure you jump over right now and join and get the full details!

I'm not sure if I will be using the birds or go with or something else, but for right now it's in first place (hahaha!) I like that I can use either one alone or put a few together for a nice grouping, not to mention what a cute little accent they would make on a layout. I may even cut these out of fabric and resize and make appliques for a child's shirt as a quick and easy gift....hmmmmm....

Well, it's almost 8:30 which is my bedtime since I'm up at 5 for work! We'll catch up some more later!

Unbelievable!

I'm still here! So much life has happened since the last time I logged in. All good. Everyone is healthy and busy, although feeling a little more aches and pains every day.

I spent most of the summer gardening and canning to my hearts content. I ended up putting up over a dozen quart jars of whole tomatoes, over a dozen quarts of tomato sauce, a dozen each sweet and dill pickles, some acorn squash and watermelon rind pickles and watermelon jelly. I love looking at my shelving unit and seeing all of my pretty pretties all lined up in a row!

Some of you may remember that my DD was finishing up her second associates and she did! Graduating with her degree in culinary and after enjoying the summer off, she wrote her resume and made a bunch of cold calls to local bakeries. She went so far as to call a place about 30+ miles down the road and she was asked to come in and do a "bench test". It took about 3 hours and after a number of items (fondant work, flower forming, airbrushing, piping, icing, etc) she was hired!

She is so happy...she really did what she wanted and is now a "Professional Cake Decorator"! Only downside is the commute as she has to go in rush hour and there are days it can take her 3 hours to get home! She has started to leave the area around 5 in the morning so she can get there by 6 and then leave around 3 in order to miss the height of traffic, but she says it's worth it. You can see here a cake she decorated...all of the roses and leaves she formed by hand!

Now I have been working on some files and just finished posting a new one (my first in a long time). I was trying to think of something that would look good on a card for a male and thought of chess pieces!

As you can see, I have included what I consider the 6 main pieces which comprise of the King, Queen, Bishop, Knight, Rook and Pawn.

I can picture a romantic card...In the game of life I'm just your Pawn..Your castle or mine? You are the King/Queen of my heart...etc! So I finished it up this weekend and loaded into the store (EC00203).

Hope some of you like it and get some use out of it.

4th of July Freebie

I figure if I start the title with a freebie you will all forgive my poor showing of many many moons! So much going on that when the day ends the last thing I think to do is log on and blog. Started working on weight loss and got down 25 lbs and then up 5 so I need to get back into the game. I think part of the problem is that I see it going so well that I think I can sneak some not good for me foods back into the mix a little and then they seem to takeover. Also while I was doing great exercising, I got lazy and really stopped.

That's kind of how it has been for a lot of things (including designing) but I am trying to get better...really I am

To get myself motiviated (and after seeing the price of t-shirts for the 4th of July at $ 10+) I bought myself a blank shirt at Joanne's (they are on sale this week 3 for $9) and decided to use the "FABRIC BLADE" I had purchased from Michelle at the last retreat, and make myself my own Patriotic shirt. I also had some fat quarter fabric stash as well as other sundries which helped keep the cost down! Now for those of you who don't currently have this blade, you can use your own sharp heavy duty one, but if you are thinking about making lots of appliques, this is a must have for your collection as it really made a quick job of it with no fraying!

Also, as we have a few days before the big day, I went ahead and created the file in all of the formats to share with all of you in case you want to make shirts for you and your families. It's a simple varsity letter set up and you can even make assembly line style...I think total time to make was 20-25 minutes (so you really have no excuse LOL!)

I also went ahead and created a YouTube video as well so you can see exactly how I put it together for those of you who are more visually oriented...now here are the materials you will need:

T-Shirt

Fabric (top and bottom layer if you want the Varsity Letter look...if you want just the letters one piece of fabric will do)

Double Stick Fusible Web

Iron

Not needed but you know me I like a little bling:

Heat set Rhinestones & Setter (Or a BeDaZzLEr!)

Important! Please wash all of your fabric and Tshirt before starting...this will remove any sizing and preshrink so you have no heartaches in the future.

Now while I did this on my KNK, the idea is the same for all of your personal cutters. Just follow your directions and you will be cutting and showing off soon enought too! Hope you enjoy the video and get some use and inspiration and make some fun shirts for you and your family!

Happy Post Thanksgiving & Cyber Monday

I'm just jumping on quickly to say that I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and have enjoyed their Black Friday Sales! I was able to get some great deals this year and stay within my budget so Woo Hoo to me LOL!

This year we found a turkey farm near our home that we didn't know existed until we started researching online and after a lot of thought ended up buying a 19 lb turkey breast only....19 lbs! I brined it like I do every year and this time went with the slow roast method and all I can say is that after 12 people finished eating and after sending some home with my sister and mom, DH and I had enough leftovers for 2 meals only! We were really some turkey eating fools!

My mom was able to come over starting on Wednesday and helped me with all of the preparations. Since everyone brings something to the table, we were responsible for the turkey, potatos, stuffing, cranberry and pumpkin pie. My mom had seen a recipe that combined jello with whole canned cranberries, pinapples, apples and nuts. It was really tasty and really yummy (especially when I added a little whipped cream LOL!) My Sis brought a brocolli cheese casserole and salad and my Son and Girlfriend rounded it out with drinks and rolls....YuMmY!!!

After everyone left my Mom and I started looking at what was playing at the local theatre and ended up going to see Burlesque with Cher and Cristina Aguilara....My Mom liked it a lot while I thought it was very predictable...the positive thing I can say that really carried the movie was the Music and we both agreed that it made it fun to watch. Cher really sang well and as far as Cristina...well she has a heck of a voice and I do enjoy listening to her. In the end, I told my Mom I thought that it was like a cross between "A Chorus Line", "Chicago" and Bob Fosse's greatest moves. The real pleasure in the end was the company.

Birthday Blues, Shaker Cards and What a Great Ending!

Starting earlier this week I started to feel a little run down and though I was hoping to enjoy my birthday on Friday, those hopes were horribly dashed. I went into work at 6, had my annual review around 8 (which went well....paraphrasing Sally Fields, "they like me...they really like me" LOL!) and as much as I was sucking down cough meds and taking asprin etc, by 10 I was running a fever, my eyes were killing me from the light and all I wanted to do is crawl under my desk and sleep!

My daughter came and picked me up and tucked me into bed and continued working on her first ever cake contest entry (more on that below). I took a big swig of that night time sleepy med and passed out. When I awoke at 4 (6 hours later!) even though I still wasn't feeling well, I did sit down and open my birthday presents....sadly it still hurt to read so I just went back to the bedroom, took another swig and passed out....woo hoo....49 just started out with a bunch of coughing, blowing of nose and basically feeling horrible...I just hope it gets better!

Next morning I was able to enjoy pancakes (made by DD) and really look at my presents. Hubby bought me this great pressure cooker I had been looking at for awhile....A Futura which has received great reviews. I have really been wanting something to cut down cooking time and this just fit the bill perfectly! I received a gift card from JoAnne's from DH oldest son and family (I KNOW my DDIL was the one to pick it out as she always helps enable my crafy addiction) and then DD got me 2 boxes of card blanks with envelopes (how did she know I had run out?!) and this REALLY cool Fiskars punch with interchangable heads. I had seen it at the craft store but as it was way on the bottom shelf I never really looked at it...but Shazam!...it is nice! Here is a link. It is PEFECT for Shaker Cards as it will make the nicest confetti and has a little bit of everything from animals to holidays...I know I will get a lot of use out of it!

Speaking of Shaker Cards....I loaded a new file to the store which is a Shaker Box which you make and then attach to the front of any card! I am currently hosting Challenge 10 of 20 Christmas Card Challenge over at the Paperthreads Forum. If you haven't already signed up just click on this link to get to mine but make sure you also check out all of the other ones there. It's a great way to get all of your cards ready in time to mail out. Here is a picture of my sample (which includes a sneak peak of my latest Digi File - Christmas Moose with Gift)

I started sketching him a couple of weeks ago and playing with the placement of objects. I think he came out very cute and really enjoyed coloring him with my Copics as per Michelle's great class at the last Paperthreads Retreat.

I am slowly getting him ready to go up into the store...there will actually be a number of versions but more on that later once I actually finish!

Okay...so what about my Great Ending? As I said before my DD has been working on her very first cake competition. She found out about it just as the entry due date had closed but she was very happy to have been allowed to enter. She drew up the sketch and started baking the cakes and freezing them (all 5 of them) and then every day after work and between classes she was working on it in the basement where she had the quiet she needed. I would peek in every night and not because I'm her mom, but I was impressed. Luckily I was so much better on Sunday and it was a good thing to as I was her "assistant" and the one to ride in the car and hold onto to everything and then help her carry in. She took over the assembly though and final touches.

It was a nursery rhyme theme contest and she chose one that I used to read/sing to her and her brothers every night before bedtime...Wynken, Blynken & Nod. She used the KNK to cut out the names on the binding as well as the words that go around the edges of each book layer...each was a phrase from the nursery rhyme.

Everything you see either carved out of krispy treats and covered in fondant she made or just sculpted our to gumpaste she colored. She also did some great airbrushing (if I may say so myself LOL!)

Well, are you ready?! She Won First Place in her division! Woo Hoo! She was very happy! All of her hard work paid off! I was going to put up a bunch of pics but instead have this YouTube video to share with you. I think she did a FABULOUS job! As this was her first contest one of the nice things is that she was able to talk to crazy cake gals and get some good tips and techniques. I stood on the side listening to her talk and watch her excitment and see the sparkle in her eyes...it made my heart glow to see her so excited and happy.

This week seemed slow to me...maybe it's because it's been so nice out that all I can do when I'm at the office is keep looking out the window thinking it would be nice not to have to be at work...but oh well...bills to pay!

You know...we only have 3 more days and then it will be Halloween! We finally got out to the Big Box Store and picked up a couple of bags of candy which I told DH he was NOT to touch.

After work he tells me that the oddest thing happened...he had come home at lunch and he was sitting at his desk when he hears a rustling sound...when he goes to the kitchen he sees Guinness Pup on the counter and he had very carefully ripped a small hole in one of the bags and took a couple of pieces of candy.

I asked Guinness and he told me to look at the bag and measure the slit against the width of the blade of the swiss army knife located in his dear old dads pocket....guess what? Can you believe DH was fibbing?! He finally confessed after I told him I was calling in the autorities for that specialized testing I see on tv shows! That's it...he's grounded LOL!

OK...so I'm sure you guys are looking at the pics and thinking what is up with that? Well, there's a town close by that every year holds a contest every year where people sign up decorate scarecrows and then they line both sides of the street with them. We went by the other day and I thought I would share some of the winners with you.

The First Prize went to the Abominable Snowman. It was really cute and reminded me of the old claymation Christmas Classics of years gone by...Rudolph and the land of the MisFiT toys.

Now to understand the Second Prize winner you have to know that in our area ALL summer long we have been having quite an infestation of STinK BuGS! If you don't have them in your area count yourself lucky! They really don't do much other than eat, play tootsies with each other MULTIPLY and just plain get into everything. Who knows how they do it but they even get in your houses and if you try to squash them you find out pretty quickly why they are named the way they are.

In any case, the winner was a Scary Looking Guy covered in Stink Bugs! Made me laugh :)

Third Place was a Crab Fisherman and the Runner up was a Ballerina. All were cute and there were oh so many along the road. We didn't come back the same way or I would have a picture of a Lady Gaga Scarcrow that I found very funny as well.

Little things like this make me laugh! On top of that I love to see everyone's creativity!

Beautiful Fall Day!

Well I hope everyone has had a nice week! Busy weekend as always but that's ok. Hubby and I went for a motorcycle ride today and once we got up in the mountains I asked him to pull over so I could take the above picture. It was REALLY pretty up there. The air is getting a little crisper and all of the leaves are finally starting to change.

This really is my favorite time of year. When the air starts to get a little chill, when you see all of the Halloween Treats and Costumes showing up in the stores and starting to think about all the cute little Trick or Treaters that come to the door.

Remind me sometime and I will share a story about my daughter around 3 years old and her WAY too large bunny suit I made her one year. It was one of the worst (although cutest) things I ever concocted. She'll tell you how I traumatized her and forced her to go out in it with rubber bands to hold the legs and arms up, but you know...she was able to wear it for the next 4 years LOL!

Well enough of that! While we were riding I also had the camera in my hand and did a really quick video to share with you. This is my perfect day! The sound you hear in the background is the wind...you really don't get to hear the motorcycle much.

OK, so I think I have mentioned in the past how I like to save money when it comes to food. We grow tomatoes, herbs and veggies in the summer and then can them at the end of the season so we have yummy food during the winter. I will admit that the added benefit to canning is that I know exactly what is going into our sauces, etc and don't have to worry about things I can't pronounce ending up in our meals.

Now Hubby and I have always enjoyed yogurt and even with "no inflation" it just seemed to be getting a little pricey. On top of that there are a lot of ingredients in the product that really have nothing to do with the yogurt itself. So, for his birthday, I bought him a Yogurt Maker from Amazon. Now yogurt is something that in itself is super easy to make. All you need is Milk (2% and up since you really need a little fat in it) and some starter. You can either purchase it or buy a small 6 oz. container of Plain (that's unflavored people) Yogurt at the grocery store but you have to make sure that the ingredients show "Live Cultures".

While I had never made yogurt before, hubby had and basically used wide mouth canning jars and the oven or just the hot outdoors in the summer (when it is above 105 degrees out) but I really liked the idea that the machine came with cups and lids so we could take them to work.

There are a lot of great videos on You Tube but basically all you do is heat your milk in a pan over medium heat (stirring occasionally of course) until it hits 185 degrees. Electronic thermometers with alarm are perfect for keeping track of this. Once it hits temperature, at this point you have killed anything that might be in your milk and have made it sterile. You then let it cool down to 105 degrees, add your starter, stir and then maintain the 105 temperature for a period of 4-5 hours. Then you refrigerate and you are done!

Super simple! Another great advantage of the machine is that I just turn it on and set the timer and walk away. What is basically happening over the time is that the culture is growing and incubating away. Once it has thickened up you know you're done. So at this point from 1 gallon of Hormone Free Milk, we can make about 24+ cups of yogurt for about $ 3.00. We then add some homemade jelly or fresh fruit to the mix along with granola and can you say very economical, healthy, yummy breakfast?! In addition to tasting great it's also very good for your tummy as it naturally contains the "prebiotics" your body needs :)

Okay...so I guess that's enough rambling for today! I have to get things picked up and work on some new files!

Tell Me It's NOT SO!!!

Has it really been almost 2 months since my last posting?! I sit here trying to think of what I have been doing and I guess with family things as well as home and work, I have been pretty much non-stop.

I did go to the Paperthreads Retreat held recently in Baltimore and can I say what a Wonderful time I had. A few of the gals from the SC retreat were able to come and I got to meet and put faces together with the names on the forum! What a whirlwind, I could have used a couple more days just to be able to finish everything I wanted to!

I have been saving up money for awhile and yes...I broke down and purchased a KNK Maax! I love my 13 inch KNK but I have been coveting the Maax for awhile since it had a little more pressure and also had the laser to help with Print and Cuts.

I've decided to keep the 13" model as my daughter has expressed her desire for it so that she can use it for cutting gumpaste for her cake decorations. I know she will get some great use from it!

I have also been busy creating some new files which I have uploaded to the site. Keep an eye out for them as they will be hitting the store soon!

This first one is a Digi Stamp and I used a picture I have of Guinness Pup as my inspiration. I just thought that with the Fall Season upon us this would make a cute Halloween Card but it would look equally as nice on a layout. I made up a bunch of cards to send out to the family but pictures really don't convey how really cool they look in person.

I also created a BOO Pumpkin file and made it so you could use either horizontally or vertically. Since I am always trying to find cute ways to journal, I also included a single pumpkin in case you want to enlarge and use as a journaling block.

I also finally got around to finishing up my Robots Galore File. You may remember I did a Robbie/Roberta Robot Digi file awhile back. Well here are there friends in cut file format. I will

eventually make digitize these as well.

Also, as it has been FOREVER since I have had a sale, I just want to let you know that all my files will be on sale shortly. I will let you know when it starts, just check back to find out when it starts fo you can really SAVE!

The End is Near!

Time Flies and A Cute Little Scalloped Box!

Time really doesn't stand still for anyone does it? After a whirlwind week with the family, my DH fun Birthday Celebration and getting back to work, it really surprised me when I looked at the calendar and saw July sadly is soon coming to an end.

As such, it's almost the end of my Quarterly Membership and I want to thank all of you who have been with me from the beginning and those of you who have continued to join in! So far I have uploaded 16 files as well as 1 bonus one and still have a few more to put up before all is said and done!

Nothing much exciting going on...oh wait! We did have something happen just yesterday! I was in the bathroom around 5 am getting ready to shower for work when all of a sudden I heard a rumble. Now at first I thought that the trash truck was being extra loud when I realized that it was a much deeper sound and I was actually vibrating a little. I stood there for a moment and then it all passed. It was only when I got out of the shower and turned on the TV that I learned I had experienced an EaRtHQuaKE!

Now for those of you who feel them more often than they care to think, it may not be a big deal, and in the great scheme of things, 3.6 may not sound like much, but when you NEVER have felt one before it was pretty interesting! DH of course was still in bed passed out, but I won't forget it for awhile. My mom who lives about an hour South of me called me and told me that they too felt it way over at her house...pretty impressive!

Ok...so beyond that nothing else exciting has happened LOL!

Off to get ready to go out...DH is inviting me for dinner...I will never say no to that offer LOL!

Hubby's BDay - Medieval Times

It's been quite a whirlwind of activity around here this last week. As I mentioned before the family has been visiting and last night we went to a mall near BWI airport to take the GrandGirls to the Bass Pro Shop to do activities and see the fish in the big tank etc...actually that is the story we told DH.

Now you have to understand, he "HATES" going to malls, but he was a sport and came along. I thought the girls would take a lot longer to paint the birdhouses but it only took about 35-40 minutes which meant we still had another 1.5 hours to hang out before heading to our true final destination...Medieval Times! For those who have never been, it's a 2 hour dinner with show with the good vs. evil theme. All food is eaten with your hands while you watch the knights joust and do battle...but I digress.

So there we are trying to stretch the time out and DIL and I are hopping to one store while DH sits in a chair in the middle of the mall and then his boys have to go to Best Buy and then I remember I need something at Bed Bath and Beyond, etc...the whole time DH is starting to squirm and ask what time are we leaving...I told him 4 pm. At one point he looks over to me ans says that he swears he heard my Sister's voice but didn't see her...I looked around and didn't see her either (thank goodness because she and her family were meeting us at the castle along with the rest of the family for DH surprise party). Now he had been sitting staring into a shoe store for awhile and I knew he needed a new casual pair so we actually were able to do a little shopping for him as well.

FINALLY 4pm comes and we start to walk around and he sees the castle but says "what's that big stone wall thing" and me being quick on my toes says "its an arcade"...it wasn't until we were actually up at the doors and he sees people inside at tables and the horns blowing that he sees the WHOLE family lined up waiting to wish him a Happy Birthday! He was SURPRISED!!!

We went inside, I got him a drink, we mingled and talked and then we were the first group led inside and seated...all 20 of us! He really enjoyed it and we ALL had a good time. They even called out his name when they listed the celebrations that were occuring and the King wished him well on his "VERY BIG" Birthday LOL! I have posted a video snippet of the show for you below.

You may have noticed the picture at the top of this post. It is the latest file which I have just posted to the quarterly membership file No. 14. It's a cute Name Holder Place Card for those who go to crops. Even if you don't go you can always use the cute accents on any layout for that special touch. Special Thanks to Elizabeth (scramper75) for cutting it out in order to share with all of you!

Live, Laugh, Love...

Here is a quick peek at my latest upload to my quarterly membership. I love these phrases whether seperate or together as they serve as great reminders of how we should try to live.

The picture is that of the wall above my mantel and I resized the file so that each phrase measured approximately 12" high by 18 " long.

I'm going to add something (maybe decorative hearts or flourishes) above and below the Laugh phrase on the right hand side, but it's a work in progress. You may think is that a Nativity set Eddita has set up in the middle of July...well yes it is. We leave it up permanently year round as we enjoy looking at it and don't feel quite right that they get packed away and brought out only once a year.

We've been pretty busy around here which is why I'm not on much. We are enjoying visiting with DH sons and our lovely DIL and 2 grandgirls....it's been 2 years since we saw them last and are enjoying every moment.

Every day has been a new craft project! The first day they did foam pictures, then yesterday they made stick puppets (and put on a show behind the curtain with the help of my DD) and today it will be coloring wood drawings and then tshirt iron ons which they chose all by themselves at Joannes.

Weather has still been super hot so we have been sticking with indoor games but I'm thinking we may be able to take in some duckpin bowling.

Well, that's all for now, will try to post some of the kids creations later on.

I scream, You scream, we all.....

Before I start, I just wanted to show you the latest files that have been uploaded to my membership since last we chatted. First one for those who have upcoming baby showers or new baby events, there is my Stork Card. I designed this one to hold either a single bundle or multiple ones (I used it for triplets recently!) I really like this one and the cute bowtie on Mr. Stork's neck and tophat just gives him that air of distiction, don't you agree?

The next file uploaded is my Super Cute Bunny Frame/Overlay. This actually consists of 2 files so you can use it either way you want. I'm horrible at making decisions so I figured why now just include both? Even though Spring has come and gone I know that like myself, you all have some cute pics that are just waiting to be highlighted.

So a little time to catch up...right now where I am, the heat is at a record high! We hit 110 on our outdoor thermometer last week and there was only 5% humidity. Hubby pointed out that is what people call a "dry heat". I went outside under the shade of our porch and felt the breeze and thought to myself "THIS IS CRAZY HOT!!!" Hot is Hot! Friends of ours purchased a vacation home in Arizona and keep trying to get us to go down for a week in August with them and the answer for sure is now no way! I'm happy to go in the winter but can I just say, ugh! I am not a "hot weather" gal in any shape of the term LOL!

One of the things that makes me feel better is my fruit smoothies (I shared previously that I had purchased a VitaMix and I'm still loving it! They really are refreshing! I purchase the fruit when in season and go ahead and peel and cut up and then pop in the freezer. Super easy to just grab what I want and then make up a drink.

The other of course is the rest of the title of this posting....we all scream for Ice Cream! Yay!!! I have always enjoyed eating home made ice cream and really love when the churches in the area put on their Ice Cream Socials. For that reason I created this cute file which is being added to my Quarterly Membership Club today. A Ice Cream Maker! It not only includes the old fashioned machine but a title and a bowl of that sweet creamy treat ready to eat with a spoon! Chore Day

Well, today is my chore day but for some reason I'm not that motivated. I think it's because I'm a bit tired and it's a little overcast outside. I did get the first batch of laundry in the washer so I guess that's a start!

I also posted a new file to my Quarterly Membership Club! Even though we still have a little time before (dare I say it) Christmas (there you go...I said it), since the gals voted and asked that the new file be a card, I uploaded my Joy Fold Out Card. I really like it because while it was designed as a holiday card, you can use the base and decorate in any way you like for any occasion with other files you already own, rubber stamps, flowers, etc.

The other nice thing about this file is that if you don't want to use it as a card, all of the elements would look great on a Scrapbook Layout either individually or grouped together. DD Graduated and New Video Tutorial!

It's hard to believe but things got pretty hectic around here and now is the first time I am able to actually sit down and play catch up!

Well my DD received her Associates of Arts, General Studies. We went to a Recognition and Awards Ceremony held at her school on 16 May where she received a cord for being recognized in the Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges. That of course is the night that my camera decided to give up the ghost. Every time I took a picture, not only did they not turn out well, but a puff of smoke would come out of the top!!! DH went onto Amazon that night and found us a replacement so that the same thing wouldn't happen on the 25th of May when she actually walked and received her tassell!

All during this time we were getting ready for her Graduation/Birthday Party (invites which I shared with you all in an earlier post), I kept getting calls from people asking if there was a back up plan since the weather that week consisted of daily thunderstorms (DD had requested to have a big cookout at the park so everyone could come and relax and a playground for those with young children). I told everyone not to worry because DD and I had looked up the weather in the local almanac and we had chosen the date since it said the weather would be sunny and hot! It wasn't until Thursday though that we were sure we were going to be ok...it WAS 89 degrees and sunny...woo hoo....the power of positive thinking LOL!

We had family and friends come out and everyone had a fun time. Now some of you know my DD wants to go on and study to be a Pastry Chef. She has been making some wonderful cakes for friends and when I get her to send me the pics I'll share them with you.

Even though she had told me she wanted to make her own cake, I knew that she was not going to be able to and told her that I would handle it. Well here is the picture of how it turned out. It's NOWHERE near the quality of what she makes, but I tried my best LOL!

Now you have to understand, since I had watched DD make fondant many times and cover a cake I thought "how hard could it be?"....BAHAHAHA...jokes on me....it's just that she makes it look super easy...I was ready to throw the whole thing out the window!

After watching a lot of YouTube videos on how to frost a cake, how to crumb coat a cake, how to make marshmallow fondant & how to cover a cake I was ready to start. It was actually going well until it came time to cover the cake. No matter what I did it wouldn't work. After a good half hour of frustration, I put the crumb coated cake back in the fridge, wrapped the fondant up tight in plastic wrap and put it in the fridge and sat down and vegged in front of the TV.

I then called DD up and ask her what I was doing wrong. She talked me through and gave me a bunch of helpful tips so that when I pulled everything out to start again, it was pefect! My fondant went on smoothly and it was ready to decorate!

Now DD's favorite flower is the the simple Daisy. I quickly designed one in my KNK Studio program and got out all of my supplies and got to it. I thought it would be helpful for those of you who are interested in doing it yourselves to make a quick video while I made it.

Note: I have one of the older KNK models which only allows the use of the silver blade holder (not the jaw of the newer Groov-e or Maxx models that allow for using the actual Cricut blade holder).

It is for that reason that I say you will need the "SLIVER LARGE HOLE CAP" if you are going to use the Cricut Blade with Silicone cover (which really rocked!). While the sliver large hole cap is no longer listed in the store, you can see a picture of it and Michelle said she can get it for you. Just go to Paperthreads.com and under the contact us section, just send her a quick note asking her and she will get back to you with pricing. Well, without any further ado, here is the video

In case any of you would like to try this cute and simple design I have attached the freebie file at the bottom. Now while I rolled little balls for the centers, if you prefer you can also cut it out of the colored gumpaste as well. Even if you aren't decorating a cake, you can add to the top of a frosted cupcake thekids loved eating them at the picnic LOL!

Not a Lazy Sunday!

Today is going to be a nice day and while I normally enjoy relaxing on Sundays, I have a big project in my basement LOL! Hubby purchased me a wonderful rolling shelving system so that I can "organize" my crafting area and find what I am looking for. He said it would make my life much easier but I really think he just doesn't like looking at the mess LOL! I agree but boy oh boy it's going to be a busy day!

The problem is that it's not just my crafty stuff in the area but boxes of "stuff" that I haven't looked at in years. I actually started on it last night and ended up with 1 big ol stuffed bag of trash (tell me why I had old joanne's flyers and junk I don't need saved?!) as well as boxes of good condition items to go to Goodwill on Monday. I would love to finish all by the end of the day, but this is going to be an ongoing project. My goal would be to get everything I don't need or use gone, and eventually have a nice crafting area set up. But FIRST I have to put the hard work in (yea!!!)

I also wanted to share with you a cute card that Jan (otherwise known as jlwclanfam) created with my Awards Ribbons File, currently available only in my QMC).

I think she really did a great job! This is what she says about this cute card:

"if you look closely, the back part of the ribbon is dark blue foil, then gold, then frosted blue, then the #1 is on gold vellum!! And I made the Father's day banner from Heritage Labels from Jen Adkins"

I really love the foil paper, but then again you all know I love anything glittery and shiny looking! LOL.

Guess what arrived in my email at 3:26 am?!!

Ok, first of all...who is UP at 3:26 am??...Now if I had asked 4:30 am Tu-Fri then the answer would be me but 3:26am?

Any guesses? The answer is Sue (aka baracudasue)! She was dying from sinus issues and barely standing on her own to feet but she put all of that aside (the trooper that she is) and still managed to create 9 similar but distinctive card fronts in about an hour with my latest 9 patch shuffle file.

Here is a pic of her finished card fronts. It took her only about an hour to complete ALL 9 card fronts and I must say I really liked how it turned out as much as she did. Of course I'm partial to the colors LOL!

She admitted to a couple of small boo boos but as I'm not going to point them out to you, you will never know where they are LOL!

As I said before, this will probably end up being my Christmas Card fronts...just got to get out to the store and pick 9 pages of 12x12 holiday themed papers and I will be able to make a good number of cards!

I also just finished uploading my latest DIGI file called the Cheerful Little Whale Digi.

If there is one thing to know about me, it's that I am not someone who likes change. I am very comfortable in my skin, my surroundings and especially my computer programs! I fear the unknown when it comes to learning new programs, which I know intellectually is silly, because once I play with them and use them enough I'm golden....it's just the initial problems and the time it takes to work through them that bothers me.

Where is this going? Well, DH has been working on getting all the computers here at home ready to convert to Windows 7. While I will begrudgingly admit that it looks way cool (especially how the media center works - where everything on the system in in one place so you don't have to hunt all over the computer for pictures, movies, music, etc), I'm worried about all of my "extra" programs and how hard it will be to get everything to work on the new system. When we upgraded last time to Windows XP, I had problems with a number of programs like my "PE-design" and the time it took to work it through and reload everything was quite a headache (and time down!)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed this goes better!

I have been busy and just this week posted my latest file to the store as well as a You-Tube how to assemble video. It is called the Nine Patch Shuffle and I based it on quilts I have made in the past.

The neat thing about it is that while you can make 1 accent and use up some of your scraps, if you invest a little more time and shuffle the paper you will end up with 9 finished accents in no time!

This may be the way I'm going to make Christmas cards this year. Just by picking 9 holiday patterened paper, I will be able to make one of a kind cards that look involved but are in the end super fast and easy to make!

What else...oh yes...for those of you who are members of my QMC I have just uploaded the latest file. It is called "Award Ribbons".

When I designed this file I wanted to give everyone options and therefore made all of the pieces interchangeable.

These would look great on sports events and honor pages as well as accents for your "World's Greatest (you fill in the blank)" cards. What a great use for those photos your loved ones winning certificates and trophies,

Strength

Last November, Shirley started a challenge on the Paperthreads forum called "Monthly Random Act of Kindness" . She noted at the time that Wikipedia defines a random act of kindness (RAK) as a selfless act performed by a person or person wishing to either assist or cheer up and individual.

The goal was to start a monthly challenge that would promote a RAK in the form of a card shower for a person who needed their spirits lifted, some cheering up show them that they are thought of and cared about.

Every month she has shared a story of a person who is having a difficult time with something in their lives and always, she shares stories of how happy the people receiving the cards were when they received them. The stories are bittersweet but always share the strength of the human spirit and the people themselves.

In any case, I was working on a card for this months RAK which I just wanted to share with you. It's got lots of glitter (got to love that!) and the shading was done with colored pencils.

It is for a woman named Brandi Todd who was paralyzed after a mentally unstable man stabbed her in the back while she sat on a bench watching her children play.

I think what always impresses me, not only about Brandi but ALL of the people who are chosen (including a young child) is that they don't let whatever is happening to them stop them from going on and doing what they always have and enjoying life. Very similar to my friend Eveline who's story I shared previously; it's their Strength I admire.

That's why I chose the Oak tree which is a symbol of strength. Those roots are firmly planted and the arms of the trees stretch all the way out ready to take whatever blows it's way.

Thanks for listening to my rambling lol! It is such a blessing it is to have family and friends...it is what gives life it's meaning.

Matchbook Pocket Gift Card Holder (Mother's Day, Father's Day, Graduation!)

If you have trouble finding the perfect present, perhaps you have found yourself doing what I do, buying a gift card to the recipients’ favorite store instead!

Instead of just putting it in an envelope, this file is the perfect presentation for your gift!

It doesn't take too long to put together and with just a little glue and the addition of a couple of brads you will have the perfect holder.

Just in case you need a couple of helpful embellishments for the front, I have included a flower (for Mother’s Day or Any Occasion), a cute tie (for Father’s Day or any other Guy day) and a cute Graduation Cap with Tassel (for your Super Star Student, which you can match to the school colors!).

Well I went to JoAnne's....

...today with my DMS (Darling Middle Son) who is looking for what they call "fashion" belt buckles for a leather project he is creating (though a lot smaller than what he has been able to locate) and on the way out we came across the "classroom" area in the back where I saw an associate unpacking a Cricut Cake machine and looking through the manual etc.

We chatted a bit and she told me she is going to be doing a demo this weekend when they unveil it and I asked her if they had any of the accessories in, like the cutting mat. She got on her little intercom ear walkie talkie I'm connected to the store thingy and called and sure enough they were in...just not out to the public yet. I guess I looked disappointed because she told me to stay still and she went to the back and brought it out to me....so for $ 12.99 (I had forgotten my 40% off coupon...Darn!) I am now the proud owner of the 2 pack of mats.

They have the same feel as the regular mats(consistency and textured back) but have concentric circles on the front starting at 2" and going out to 12", 12" x 12" grid, but do not have any adhesive on the front (which makes sense...duh LOL!) It is also labeled as being made with "Food-Safe" materials. They also have an "odd" smell.

Cutting gumpaste is actually one of the things I want to work on doing to help my DD in case she needs any decorations for the cakes she has been making. Normally she cuts everything out by hand or using a fondant cutter, but this might also be a good option for her as well. I have a gumpaste recipe that is purported to work excellently with the Cricut machine so I'll give it a go and you know me, will share the outcome when I actually get it made.

Nothing much else going on...I'm really looking forward to Friday and getting some things done around the house, but mostly relaxing and maybe watching a movie or two. The 2 dogs and 1 CaDog are doing well. Maybe if the weather stays nice we'll get out for a ride but as always, it's one of those whim things.

Oh...just got a coupon from my Most Favorite Massage Guy in the mail....I think it's a hint....I might just have to call him and take him up on it ....now THAT really gives me something to look forward to LOL!

Nope, Na-Ahhh, Not at All !!!

Patience really seems a bit over-rated to me....I HATE looking at Christmas presents under the tree and not be able to open or rattle them around, I don't like that my DH refuses to play 100 questions (truthfully) after he tells me he got me something, I never can wait and always pull brownies out of the pan before they are truly ready and I will admit it here and now...I sometimes can't wait to bake the chocolate chip cookies so I just go ahead and eat the dough raw!

So you may ask, what started all of this? Simple....I caved....I gave in....I did it....I uploaded a file to my Quarterly Membership Club which doesn't officially start for 3 more days!

Of course it doesn't help that I have no strength or fortitude and give in very easily to peer pressure (and can I tell you....the gals who have already signed up are pretty good at needling and breaking my resolve to wait!)

As they all expounded the virtues of NOT being patient, I thought about a lot of different images that convey the word and actually had one sketched, but somehow didn't think it was too appropriate...plus I couldn't imagine how anyone would use the file...Picture this, a man crawling through a desert while a vulture watches from a cactus, I mean it really doesn't say "Happy Birthday"...unless maybe its for an "over the hill" card??? Hmmmm....may have to rethink that one bahahahaha!

In any case, as I was staring at G-Pup it came to me! Cats are some of the most patient creatures I have seen. Dogs not so much....well mine at least. They see something they want and they start immediately jumping around and barking....Guinness...he will wait...and watch...and wait....for a lllloooonnnngggg time before pouncing!

Tornado Siren, Sneak Peek and New Quick & Dirty

This is going to be a long read, so make sure you're comfy and relaxed and enjoy :)

Every time we go to Sam's club they always have fresh great looking bags of mussells. My daughter commented how delicious they are and how she learned to make them in culinary and I told her I had never had them. I know my Mom loves them so we decided we would visit her and take along the makings. I thought about buying them in advance, but I wanted fresh......

So, after my daughter finished making her fondant (for the new cake she has been commissioned) we headed out to Sam's...guess what...No Mussells!

I said that's ok...we can drive down the hightway and get off at one of the exits where I know there is a big grocery store which is perfect because we also need crusty bread....well guess what....they were working on renovations and there was NO Seafood Dept which means NO MUSSELLS!!!

See my frantic little guy in my QMC ad? That's how I am feeling. Then I remember there is another big grocery store in a shopping center behind where we were and this time NO Grocery Store! Well there was one but ALL Indian food ALL the time....We were getting ready to get back on the highway when my daughter spied a Safeway and so we got in there and Finally....Mussells....she asked the doof (I mean young guy behind the counter) when they came in and he (the doof) told us that morning...it was hard to tell but we said we would take 2 bags. We finally got out of there and headed to my mom's. Got there...Amber started cleaning them only to find almost 1/2 were dead or had broken shells so were unusable....argh! Did I say doof??? I meant liar liar pants on fire!

Well, when all was said and done , she prepared what was left perfectly. I really enjoyed them and now wonder why I never have picked them when we go eat seafood...note to self...mussells are yummy! In any case, we enjoyed the wonderful food and helped organize a little around the house and then after visiting came home. With me I brought 2 boxes of family photos...I'm going to have to go through them (along with the others I have) and then DH is going to set up a table and I'm going to start scanning....but that will be for another day!

So the ride home is pretty uneventful...I'm traveling about 65 and the roads and not backed up. I call my hubby and tell him we are on our way. He warns us to be careful because things have been dicey at home. Now understand, where we live it's pretty safe from harm as we have some small mountains surrounding us that keep most of the bad things away...it's not like we live in the Midwest where areas can be flat and susceptible.

I hang up and tell my daughter what he said and commented that it was odd as we were still about 30 minutes out and while overcast skies, I could see hints of blue in the sky and no rain....well, that should teach me to open my mouth...no sooner had the words left my lips that all of a sudden the skies started to go from overcast to medium gray, to dark gray, to almost black gray (reminded me of the various colormate paper hues!) and the winds started buffeting and the rain starts to pour! There is nothing I hate more than to drive in the dark IN the rain but there I was. When I say rain it's not a "Singing in the Rain" kind of rain...we are talking sheets. My daughter and I sat straight up, I turned on my flashers, downshifted and hit my brakes a couple of times so that the guy behind us would back off. We're cruising at a steady 10-15 mph and passing tons of cars that had pulled off on the shoulder. We were in it for 15-20 minutes when it finally let up. That's about the time I remembered to start breathing again. A little while later we pull in the driveway and are greated with hugs. I told hubby how worried I had been and he told me that had been the whole day here...and not only that, that the Tornado Sirens had been going off.

I said the what? and he reitereated the Tornado Sirens. I told him I didn't know we had any and he said that neither had he! They went on for a good 10 minutes and they were loud enough that he said you would think they were going on in the house! The dogs were freaked out, he was checking the weather and saw the boxes appear on the map. He tried to round them up to go to the basement and couldn't find the G-Pup who had bailed and was hiding somewhere. Then all of a sudden he said, the sirens stopped. Phew disaster averted though I keep hearing fire truck and ambulance sirens all around right now.

I guess if I had a choice I would much rather hear "sorry lady...no mussells" than Tornado Sirens!

OK....now for the Sneak Peak....

the other day Sue (aka baracudasue) sent a request on the forum for playground equipment. I just had to write her and give her not just a hint but a little more of one of the files that will be included in my QMC starting in May titled "Playground Fun".

She sent me not only a pic of the file she cut out but also shared her layout with me....are you ready???

I'm sure she will post her layout to the forum where you can get a better look, but I think she did a wonderful job! I love how she made the swings look like they were moving in mid air, and while it may be hard to see, she put glitter on the slide which made it sparkle in that way that tells you that you are about to burn the skin right off your legs LOL! Thank you Sue!!!

Now where I am...oh yea, that's right a New Quick and Dirty!

Not sure if you noticed, but in the left column you will see a picture of a file with the word "Love". If you click on the image it will take you to my latest YouTube video. It's a quick way to add shadows to your vinyl wall lettering. It's been such a long time since I created one that it took me a lot of trials and errors before getting it right. For those who like to have a file with a tutorial, right below is the sample I used for the video in all of the formats...maybe some of you will be able to use it....simple enough to enlarge, just make sure you do it all at the same time! Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Ok...it's almost 9pm, my fingers are about to fall off, I'm making big yawny noises and I'm about to turn into a pumpkin.

Do you know how hard it was to not say anything??

So now you can understand why it's been awhile since I actually uploaded a file to the store LOL! It really takes a lot of time to create 20 PLUS files but in the end I hope you are going to enjoy them and be able to use them.

Now I understand that not every file will be for everyone, but really, at less than 50 cents a file I'm sure you will be happy in the end LOL!

All my files will include ALL the cutting formats: .GSD, .AI, .KNK, .WPC and .SVG and there is also going to be a little bit of everything including cutting files, 3D objects, cards, vinyl and a sprinkling of digi stamp.

Now for a completely random thought...I really dislike when Easter is in the beginning of the month....I guess it's because I look forward to holidays and when too early it just throws me off. It makes the month seem really long. That's it...just my random thought LOL!

Looks like there may be a slim chance of sunshine before the rain sets in. Not sure what our plans are but I'm not really feeling yardwork! I really should dig and clean out the garden bed (and mind you it's NOT that hard to do I'm just being really lazy!) I think maybe its the odd temps that have been going on and knowing that rain's coming in soon doesn't make me want to just run outside...well that and the fact that my allergies have been killing me!

I've watched a few netflix movies lately but NONE that I could say "wow that was good let me recommend to you". Truth is that lately it seems that everything I watch that I think has potential basically just fizzles. I checked one out called "I Hate Valentines Day" because it was done by the gal who did "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" and it starred her (Nia Vardalos) and brought back someone I enjoy watching (John Corbett). She also wrote and directed it....It was DREADFUL!!! Normally I can come up with something nice to say, but in this instance, all I can think is there went 98 minutes I will never get back. From the writing, acting and directing...just horrible. Ok....here is something nice...the concept was cute, there you go...that's all there is LOL!

When my firends and I talk movies and it comes to really bad ones they think I'm crazy to watch the whole thing through, as does my DH though he says he stays because he enjoys having me curled up with him on the couch. It comes down to this, if someone has taken the time to write something and actually gotten someone to buy into it and put money in it and then create the screenplay, hire the actors, film it etc and I pick it out, then I should watch it all the way through...good or bad. I feel the same way with books...I keep plodding through no matter how long it takes...I guess it's the small part in me that is rooting them on and hoping it's going to get better....sometimes it does but that is very rare these days LOL!

Also, it seems there is nothing new out there! I just saw a commercial the other day for a movie called "Death at a Funeral". Now unless you are one that enjoys foreign films you would read the synapsis and think...sounds funny. The truth is though this is a remake of a 2007 UK film by the same title, they just used American actors...why?!!! The original is funny! The preview for this newest bit of Hollywood, not so much.

This is the same for a number of other movies I really enjoyed that were butchered when remade here (because again Hollywood doesn't have any original ideas)

The first is "Shall We Dance". This is a very cute Japanese Film (with subtitles) from 1995. There was so much emotion and humor in this, it really made you fall in love with the characters and get a glimpse of life and the yearn for happiness. The remake years later with Jennifer Lopez and Richard Gere was horrible and flat.

Another I can think of is a wonderful German Film (again with subtitles) from 2001 called Mostly Martha or Bella Martha. This is a fantastic film and you FEEL how much this woman lives for cooking and are swept up in it as she becomes the ward of her neice and enjoy watching her life turn upside down. This is the original movie that the movie No Reservations with Catherine-Zeta-Jones was based on...again sub-par.

OK, that's my rant for the day...holidays that start early in the month (though that was really more just a random thought) and how bad a particular movie was and while I didn't think I had any movies to suggest to you, I found that in fact I have 3 very good ones!

Just Shoot Me Now!

Those are not my words but surely what Toby is thinking!

He had some kind of cyst on his leg that finally burst but he just can't seem to stop licking it! We finally took him to the vet who gave us a medication to put on it 3 times a day along with some bitter apple which is "supposed" to taste horrible and therefore stop good 'ol Toby....I say "supposed" because the bassett hound in him didn't get the memo and he's still licking!

Luckily (though he might look at it as Un-luckily) we have one of those "Cones of Shame" from a prior surgery one of the fur-kids had so I just popped it on him. Doesn't he look happy?!

Daisy and Guinness are both concerned about him now. Well mostly Guinness...Daisy is kind of freaked out about the whole thing and is staying as far away from him as possible....maybe she thinks whatever he has is catching.

Guiness on the other hand has been going up to him and giving him little kitty kisses. Doesn't he look like he's telling him not to worry, it's going to be all right?

It's funny, but Toby was really the most gentle dog when we first found the G-Pup at 8 weeks old. He was the most loving and nuturing surrogate Dad I had ever seen...Daisy on the other hand is pure squirrel and couldn't calm down or be trusted...she is much better now though.

I think that Guinness really loves Toby and it's nice to see that when Toby is hurting, Guinness is there to kiss him and make him feel better.

I've been watching and the G-Pup keeps going up to Toby and grooming him and using his paws to pet his nose...with that kind of attention things can only get better for Toby.

I'm hoping that his leg will heal sooner than later so that we can remove that horrible cone, but for right now it's really the best thing for him.

That's about it for now, but whenever you start feeling bad about something, just think of Toby and thank YOUR lucky stars you don't have to wear a cone!

Bittersweet Day

We received a call Friday from the husband of one of my friends to let us know that Eveline had passed away. I got to know her years ago when she first came to work part time at the same company I am with. She had a wonderful spirit and a wicked sense of humor!

She was diagnosed about 8 years ago with breast cancer at the age of 57 and while she was able to work for awhile, she eventually left. Happily, the friendship continued. After the treatments and various checkups it appeared her cancer had gone into remission and we all celebrated. Sadly a couple of years later, the cancer reoccured in her spleen and traveled on from there. She kept fighting and going to treatments and for awhile there it was believed she was only going to get better as after each battle, things seemed to clear up and go into remission.

She never let the cancer affect her life or change the way she lived it. She continued to travel all over the world visiting family in Eastern Europe, going to Fatima with her sister, being a major part of the sodality at her church and most importantly being a wife, mother, and grandmother. The only complaint she had was that she could not drive in the last years and hated feeling like she had to depend on anyone...in this case the anyone was her husband who was there for everything, happy or sad.

Her funeral was a lovely full Catholic service and the church was full. It reminded me a lot of my father's (which of course only brought out more tears from me). It's always the songs that get me and of course just flipping through them brought the tissue out in my hand at the ready. Here I am Lord...On Eagles Wings.... How Great Thou Art are just a few of the ones they chose.

My memories of Eveline will always be her laughter, the fact that she didn't let things get her down, all her stories and her piggie collection (including a very naughty pair of salt and pepper shakers that had to be put away when children were around). I said she had a wicked sense of humor!

So, after coming home, it was time to look ahead and to that end my lovely daughter and I worked on her Graduation/Birthday Party invites. It's a file I created awhile ago and have been tweeking here and there and will be part of my upcoming membership (hint hint).

We used the school colors (green and yellow for the girl graduate) and did it assembly style...my KNK was on overdrive in the background cutting out main pieces and backgrounds while my daughter was adhearing them together. In the meantime I was cutting out backgrounds and putting the invite portion inside each card...in the end when all was said and done we had finished 30 in a little over 2 hours! Now to get them all off into the mail and wait for RSVPs.

She said she didn't realize how long it was going to take and it was good to know for when it came time to do wedding invites....HUH?!?!?!!!! She then clarified and said not anytime soon...just for the future....PHEW!

Today is my day to play catch up and I'm going to work on a couple of things but wanted to respond to a question I got from a nice person who asked...."How long does it take you to create a file?"

I really didn't have an answer but I do now....from concept to finished product....A Long Time! bahahahahaha......you see, I had this image for a new file and started working on it this morning by hand folding paper by hand, cutting with scissors and then taking measurements.

I then translated the information into a file but kept tweeking and working and changing until I got it just right! In the meantime, here is only part of the pile on my table of the ones I cut and rejected for one reason or another! I still have some work to do but I'm hoping that by the end of the day I will be able to share my vision with you....ok....maybe not today but sometime soon...I do have to be realistic you know!

Anyway, enough about that....don't forget, today is the last day for you to get my Digi files at 50% off (see previous post). Gotta love a sale!

My First Digi Files (and special savings to you!)

Ok, this is not going to be a long post since I have to get the recycling out and then get ready for bed (yea....I know it's not even 7pm but my eyes are so very tired and the allergies are kicking my bottom!)

Anyway, I am so excited that my very first 2 digi fies have been uploaded to the store!

The first one is my Cherry Blossoms Digi (EC00167)

As you can see in the picture, this consists of a branch with the cherry blossoms inside a scalloped frame. I have also included extra flowers which you can cut out and add to the top of the image to allow them to pop.

Also, in order to provide you with more options, for those of you using cutters, I am providing two background cut lines: 1 solid background that runs on the outside of the scalloped frame and 1 that has cut lines both on the outside and the inside of the stamp.

At first I was only going to do a "boy" robot but when I got to thinking, I remembered watching hours of Lost in Space with my brother and LoViNg the Robot! Then I thought I CAN'T be the only girl who likes robots and thus Roberta was created! I like to think of them as fraternal twins LOL!

Ramblings and Announcements

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter/Passover holiday and enjoyed your time with family and friends!

We visited my Sister who hosted the festivities this year and along with our family all their friends and their children also came along so it was a Full house! Food, fun, laughter and eggs abounded! Thank goodness for the perfect weather too!

It's always nice to get together with everyone and while the guys talk sports and movies, the gals talk about life in general and their latest crafts (my favorite part of course LOL!)

Speaking of latest...while I have a number created, I just finished uploading my very first Digi File!

I went back and forth on what to send to the store and ended up with a cute couple...Robbie and Roberta Robot! At first it started out just being Robbie, but then I got to thinking how lonely he looked and knowing that girls like robots too decided to give him a friend. Since it is really 2 files it took me a little longer than I had hoped, but in the end I really hope that you all enjoy them! As you can see by the picture, in addition to the digi stamps, there are addition pieces provided so you can make your cute little accent pop out! Keep an eye out for this cute couple as they should be hitting the store shortly (EC00166).

Now for my Big Announcement:

If you recall, the last time I posted, I mentioned that I had big news....well here it is, starting next month, that is 01 May, I will be hosting the next Quarterly Membership!! Woo Hoo!! This will last through 31 July and it's a great way for you all to receive 20+ brand spanking new files for the insanely low cost of only $ 10!

I will be offering a little of everything including some cards, scrabooking embellishments, digi stamps and wall vinyl (just to name a few). If you have special requests, nows the time to get them in to me. This is one of the reasons (in addition to the medical and life delays) that I have been very busy. Trigger Finger Anyone??

You know if it's not one thing with me it's another! So awhile ago at work, we moved offices and one of the things that had to eventually happen is files had to be put away. The ones we have can be heavy and I overworked my right arm to the point where I couldn't file anymore and begged coworkers to help me out.

While I took a rest, because hubby had just had surgery, given the snowstorm and the shoveling I tried to spare him from, I now am the proud owner of new aches and pains! I can't lift or move much with my right arm due to "tennis elbow" which basically means my tendons are really bad and as the Dr says...imagine an overstretched rubber band...that is your tendon.

Also, the middle finger on my left hand locks up and I have to physically straighten it. Woo Hoo! If it doesn't get better in a month or so I am going to have to go back for injections and if THAT doesn't work...surgery.

Oh and did I mention carpel tunnel in both arms? Deep sigh....if you look at me I'm a sight...brace on right elbow...splint on middles finger and gloves that don't allow my wrists to bend....~~~~I feel pretty...oh so pretty....~~~~~

With all of that being said, I thank you in advance for your understanding why I have not been around too much, but even so, I have been taking some time here and there to make new files including...get ready now...DIGI STAMPS!

I'm really proud of my first two and I'm hoping they will be up in the store soon (they are getting proofed to make sure there are no issues with them first before I unleash them to the world LOL!)

This is my first one which I called Happy Girl. I'm sure you can see why. While many of you would normally cut them out by hand, the neat thing about all of the digi files you purchase from Paperthreads is that they include the cut lines so all you crafters with cutters won't have to pull out a pair of scissors! That's right, they are available in all of the formats: .GSD, .AI, .KNK, .WPC & .SVG!

Also there are additional pieces within the file in case you want to use pop up dots to give the image a more 3-D look as you can see in my closeup below (the flowers, happy girl's body and the balloon.

Now I'm not someone who knows when to say stop so when you look at my second one (Fairy Princess) you will see all of the different options that will be included in the file so you can use it as a Princess alone OR as a Fairy Princess....I picture her to be able to be used in so many ways!

The files come with high quality JPG and PNG (300DPI) files. While I haven't made the cards yet, here is a sneak peak:

As usual, I have been busy creating new files. Even though we still have snow on the ground, I am looking forward to Spring!

I have been receiving my various seed and garden catalogs and trying to decide what we are going to plant this year. There are some items that are a given (like tomatos!) but others which we tried that we weren't that excited about given the space needed to grow them in like carrots.

Whatever we plant though it seems that the ever mounting population of what my hubby calls "yard rats" otherwise affectionately known as "bunnies" always seem to get in and eat what we don't want them to. This was my inspiration for my new file BUNNY GATE

It can be used with or without the included mat and I thought it would look cute at the bottom of a layout. In looking at it a little more, it can also be cut out and used as an embellishment on a gift box and if you are doing a nursery, you can even enlarge it and cut it out of vinyl for a sweet wall decoration...instead of counting sheep your little one can count bunnies!

Speaking of vinyl, I am working on some new files which I will hope to have up in the store soon. If you are looking for anything in particular, drop me a quick note and let me know!

The Big Dig Continues....

Before I start my official whining, I want to let everyone know that all of my files are currently on sale for a whopping 50% off through February 16th during the Customer Appreciation Days!

I am a good way at almost finishing my SVG conversions so if you see a file you want and if you don't currently see it in the store, go ahead and purchase it and send me a copy of the reciept so I can get it right to you. Now....let the whining commence! OK...I or better said we are very TIRED PUPS!!! Hubby and I have officially cried uncle and have finished all we can do...our muscles are literally jello! We are fortunate the next couple of days are calling for sunshine and highs in the low 30s so maybe some of the cool white stuff will slowly melt away!

To commemorate this "historic snow event" I created a BIG DIG file which should be hitting the store shortly. Heck...I say "why not create a scrapbook page to remember your aches and pains?"

Just in case you are thinking I'm just a big baby, I thought I would share some pics with you which include the front of the house (after hours of clearing), the garage which we could only get to today, the side of the house (isn't that a really cool wave?!) and finally the dogs playing in the snow. Yes, that includes Guinness who runs around like the other 2 crazy dogs ONLY he has to be on a leash!

It is just insane the amount of snow we got and it apparently is a Record! The first snow last week we got almost 3 feet and then this one we got a little over 4.5 feet...FEET!!!!!!!! Add both of the storms together and I have given up! Hopefully the little storm coming in on Monday will be small as they are describing, because I can't take much more!

While I'm here I want to share a picture that my Design Team Member Elizabeth made with my Batter Up - Children Cooking file. I think she did a great job and I love the color combinations she used! Yummy....makes me want to go and make some cupcakes too!

Say It's Not So!!!

Well, we have done our best at shoveling the 32 inches (yes I sais 32!!!) and have managed to clear off the driveway but that's about where it all ends. The snow plows came through and basically just plowed a single lane through our develpment and left us with mountains of snow to contend with. The pic above shows how it looks today. Where it was warmer and the ice was thinner we can actually see the road, but for the most parts, it's large chunks of ice.

On top of that, the weather reports that from now until tomorrow night we can see perhaps an additional 20"! Good Googly Moogley! Please say it's not so!

On the bright side, I did get out of work today so I have been using my time wisely...gaining my strength to shovel snow again and work on the SVG conversions...woo hoo...they are chugging along!

Snow, Gardening, Angels and a Challenge!

Boy oh boy...I know there is someone out there who loves shoveling snow, but in this house right now, no one is jumping for joy LOL!

So far we a little more than 26.5 inches and the snow doesn't show any signs of letting up! Unlike the last couple of snows which were light and airy, this one is full of moisture and HEAVY!!! The winds don't help any and when we were going to go out this morning at 8:30 am to start a little path for the dogs to get out, the snow had drifted up against the storm door and we really had to push it hard just to eek out and start to clear the snow from in front of the door just to open it.

Here is a pic so you can see how things looked a few hours ago after we cleared a little bit....I just went out to take a quick peek and everything we cleared is now covered again so we're just going to wait for it to finish tomorrow before really working on clearing it.

We were able to finally clear a small area for the dogs and they had a lot of fun in the snow running around. I thought they were going to really take advantage of all of the room (since they were not leashed) to go crazy but they were only interested in running up and down the area we had cleared .

Guinness of course not wanting to be left inside started his barking (ok it sounded like mewling but remember...he is a DOG in my hubby's mind) and so we took him out to the back patio and set him down in a little area that had been excavated out there for just for him...he started playing with the snowflakes and actually digging a hole in the snow to create a little tunnel...what a silly cat um err I mean DOG! He keeps wanting to go out and play so we give him like the other dogs a little time outside.

My mom called me to say that she had excitement at her house this morning. She lives along side a creek and the street is only 2 cars wide (enough for cars parked along the curb and traffic). So she is watching the plow who is working on pushing through 2 feet of snow and he gets stuck. Instead of just backing out he starts to rock the truck back and forth and then she sees flames coming out from under the hood.

The rest got very jumbled in the telling but this is what I know:

My son who lives with her and helps her out has been shoveling to keep the walk clear since early morning was sent to get the fire extinguisher
She calls a neighbor to bring their extinguisher out as well
She calls the fire department (who she says wants the story of her life when all she wants is someone to come put out the fire)
The firemen come walking because they can't get the truck down
A man comes in walking with a BIG fire extinguisher
The flames (which have now engulfed the cab of the truck) are now extinguished
They hear a big crack from this huge tree in front of the house which comes towards Nick and the next thing she knows she no longer sees my son but instead a huge snowman who just missed being beaned in the head by the branch.
She speaks to my nephew who upon hearing the news about his cousin asks his Grandmother if she was able to get a picture of "Snowman Nick"
My son says to my mom in the background...I hear a buzzing....then they both hear a crack...and then my Mom says to me..."honey I have to go we just lost power."

I'll give her a call a little later, but I know that it may be awhile before she gets electricity back based on the news of all of the power outages but she did say she had prepared for the eventuality. Ok...am I done whining about the snow yet....mmmmm......maybe for a little LOL!

On to my next topic...Gardening! Remember last time I told you I had started my aerogarden around the 10th of January?? Well here is a pick so you can see how it looked a week later on the 17th and one of how it looks today (21 days later!)

I'm impressed! What you see in the front from left to right is: Cilantro, Tomato & Epazote (it's a Mexican spice). In the back from left to right is: Tomato, Thai Basil, that unknown herb from Colombia & another Tomato. The stalks on the plant are really sturdy and it's actually time to start to prune so it doesn't start to flower right away...I'll keep you all up to date as it goes...I love seeing green growing in the cold of winter...don't you?!

Now what did I want to talk to you about next....oh Yes! Angels! I know we always have them around us lifting us and giving us their Love...so I thought that would make a cute little accent for either a Sweet Card or Layout of a special event. I created it so you could use it in a variety of ways depending on whether you want to use a mat and if you do, which one!

It has been uploaded to the store and available in all of the formats: .AI, .GSD, .KNK, .WPC and .SVG. Just click on the picture at the top left corner of my blog and it will take you right to the store.

Well I guess that leaves just one subject to talk about .....a Challenge! I hear you all starting to get excited!

Rutrow..so much for resolutions...

Ok...so I missed last weeks blog update, but before I bring you all up to date, I have to talk about the earthquake in Haiti a little bit. I know that we all want to help give but may be concerned that the money is reaching the right people. I personally can vouch for 2 organizations who do nothing but good for the needy in the country. Both would appreciate any donations you can give.

The first is a micro-finance group called FONKOZE who basically describe themselves as "Haiti’s Alternative Bank for the Organized Poor". They lend money to people to start their own businesses and learn how to support themselves. They also have literacy programs and support programs.

The second is called FOR HIS GLORY which is a Christian ministry partnered with an orphanage who care for an average of 125 children who have been abandoned either due to parents inability to care for them or death. They also work with families who are interested in adopting these children.

Both groups have a link on their main pages where if you are interested you can click on a link to donate specifically for Earthquake Relief. I know times are hard right now, but if you can only give $ 5 - $ 10, it will add up and help. Even if you can't do anything financially, please take a moment to say a quick prayer for those suffering, that they may have relief.

Now, as far as my resolutions, I have been pretty good on "trying" to say only nice things, have actually created a few new files AND I scanned one photograph LOL!

The other thing I forgot to say is that I have a sale (my ONLY one this month) currently going on! ALL of my files are 40% off! This includes my cute little pocket frog I talked about last time. If you are interested in him just click on this link.

I started my aero garden last weekend and already everything has sprouted! I have 3 tomatoe plants as well as cilantro, thai basil, epazote (a mexican herb) and an herb from Colombia (though I don't know the name of it!) A friend had brought some up with her after visiting her mother years ago and I had vaccuum sealed some seeds in a jar. I'm really surprised it is growing and once it's big I'll have to call her and find out exactly what it is LOL!

I also got a new kitchen gadget a couple of weeks ago...this one I have been wanting for years but it was way out of my price range. I had seen a demo of it at Costco, but it was way too much....until...QVC! I just happened to turn on the tv and they were doing kitchen stuff and there it was...the Vita-Mix with free shipping and 5 easy payments! Woo Hoo....I was there for it...it also helped that it was a today's special value and the price was the lowest I had EVER seen...so 2 days later it's on my counter and I have been playing with it ever since!

Every morning I make a green smoothie for DH and myself and have even made hummus, ice cream and even soup! I just added brocolli, chicken broth, milk, a little bit of cheddar and let it whirl....in 5 minutes I had Hot Steaming Soup! No need for any pans....woo hoo. DH found it really tasty which is good! I really like this machine (but as it's a kitchen gadget what's not to like?!)

In any case, I guess that's it for now but I hope to finish converting my newest file today so I can share a pic with you tomorrow.

Meet My Little Friend...

First off I hope that everyone had a wonderful New Years! DH and I passed out at 11:15....we did try so hard....only to be woken up by the sound of a bunch of fireworks going off somewhere close by...we mumbled a Happy New Year greeting to each other, gave each other a quick peck and then continued on in slumber land!

Nothing exciting really to report, just trying to be good and work on my resolutions ;)

I did create a number of new files and to that end, I wanted to introduce you to my latest...My Pocket Pal Frog. He will be appearing in the store shortly and wanted to give you a sneak peak!

What I like about him (in addition to his little fly friend!) is that I designed him so you could move the position of his little frog arms around so he can hold a little message for you or if you prefer, you can enlarge him and use the pocket he is stashed away into as a journaling block.

I personally, have a girlfriend who LOVES anything to do with frogs so I used him on the front of a card blank and rubber stamped a birthday cake on a the little piece of paper he is holding under his fingers....the fly is just flitting around LOL!

I'm sure you can all come up with your own uses for him! He is the first in a collection that I will be posting over time...so far I also have a Bear, Giraffe, and a Sock Monkey! If you can think of any other good ones let me know!

I went to the Heart Doctor today for my follow-up to my 2008 Thanksgiving Heart debacle. He did a couple of tests and said I'm golden! Just keep up the good work (i.e. trying to eat better and working out at the gym) and said he looked forward to NOT hearing anything from me and seeing me in a year...woo hoo! Finally, good news!

Well, I guess that's all for now...I'll keep you updated with any changes and let you know what files are coming.

What 2 Posts in the SAME WEEK??

First off, I want to thank everyone for the nice comments on the blog and the emails. I thought maybe you had all given up on me LOL!

I keep thinking 2010 has to be better than 2009! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we all have first and foremost Family and Love and then right up next to it Health! I had my scares last year and now it seems it's my DH's turn. I keep hearing that God doesn't give you more than you can handle, and I guess in the big scheme of things I can't complain, but sometimes I just cry "uncle"!

For all of you who having difficulties of any kind, just know that I keep you all in my thoughts and nightly prayers, that we all feel lifted and supported in our times of need and that we may all get through all of the problems we have, whether large or small.

I also don't forget to say Thanks for all of the good things in my life :)

My DD got her grades a few weeks ago and happily she has "officially" earned her AA degree in general studies. After 2 more semesters she will add to that her AA degree in Culinary and Hospitality. Once she finishes, she will move on to specialize in Pastry and Baking and is looking at schools all over the country...hopefully not too far away!

My job, which I have officially started on year 12, is still going well, and I got a wonderful review. It is a blessing that I have good bosses and I enjoy my job. I still have my 4 - 10 hour day schedules which I am truly thankful for as it allow Hubby and I our "Monday Date Day".

As I mentioned, my Mom just celebrated her birthday and is wonderful and vibrant! I just spent last Sunday with her and my camera, video taping her answering questions about the family background and hearing stories of how my grandparents met, etc. I wish I had done this with my Dad before he passed away, because I can't remember all the names of people and family long gone and don't really have a way to find them now.

While I was at my Mom's I came home with a couple of HUGE boxes of family photographs! I am going to have to set some time on the weekend and put up a large card table in the basement and with the help of my kids (hint hint) set up a scanner and just start saving them all! I even found pics of my Dad in boot camp! The funny thing about this pic is that ALL his friends are in the same cheesecake pose in their tents. On the back in my Dad's writing it says "R&R Rest and Relaxation" then it says NOTE: cleanliness & order LOL! Anyway, I'm going to look forward to seeing everything and then have to make a decision exactly how I'm going to save since nothing has dates argh!

Finally, I have been a very good girl! I have just finished uploading not 1, not 2 or 3 but 4 Easy Thank You Card Fronts! I also put them all together in a collection for those of you who can't decide which ones you like best and like to save a little money!

Now that the holidays have come, I'm sure you all have a bunch of Thank You notes to send! I know I do!

She's Alive!!!

Ok, so while I started a number of times to update my blog, somehow something always got in the way and I never got back. What is that saying, Plans are what you make but Life is what happens....in this case no truer words have been said.

We celebrated my Mom's "??" birthday early November and we were joined by friends and family to share a wonderful meal and fellowship. My brother flew in from the other side of the world (WA state) so my mom enjoyed the company of her 3 children and her 6 grandchildren (no great grandchildren yet and believe me no rush on that either LOL!)

We held it at a local golf clubhouse and had a very yummy meal finished off by a delicious birthday cake my daughter made just for the occasion.

Thanksgiving came and it had been a year since my little "TIA" heart incident. You know I started stressing as the day came closer that I might have another one, but thankfully all is well.

I have an follow up appointment with the cardiologist soon and I'm hoping I get a clean bill of health. My office had a move and while my heart survived, my back didn't. Packing up boxes in preparation for the move really did a number on it. After having the whole family up, I spent Thanksgiving night all the way through the following Monday night flat on my back. The pain was horrible! It still twinges from time to time, but it almost feels back to normal. Note to self...no more lifting ANYTHING heavy...especially around the holidays!!!

The major Winter Storm hit us with a vengance as with so many others on the East Coast. We ended up with a little over 2 feet of snow which hubby and I two days to clear off the paths and driveways. I will admit, it really was beautiful! Here are a couple of pics so you can see how nice it looked!

Christmas came too quickly and for some reason I just couldn't find the spirit, try as I might. We got the tree up, stockings hung and the Nativity out but I still had problems. December is always a bit rough since we lost my Dad all those years ago on December 12th, but normally I do ok....not sure what was different this year but I sure do hope I don't have it happen again.

My sister asked me that this year instead of buying gifts for the kids if I could do some vinyl art for their walls. Now understand, my nephew is a MAJOR Star Wars fan and my niece is really into Fairies. Took me a bit but here is what we ended up with:

Finally, in anticipation of the New Year I have decided to start working on my list. This is what I have so far:

Try to give only compliments
Visit my Mom more frequently
Update my blog at least once a week
Create and upload at least 2-3 files a month
Work on scrapbook layouts for the TONS of photos I have
Scan all the photographs I currently have housed in boxes and bags
Continue going to the gym on a weekly basis

Now this list is only a start and it's what I would LIKE to do (LOL!) Let's see how it goes.

Anyway, that's about it for now and I will have more to share as the New Year gets closer.

Well it looks like everyone enjoyed the party celebrations this weekend and were able to get involved in the challenges and games going on at Paperthreads! Hopefully you were able to take advantage of my sale as well!

Now it's the time to pick up and start cleaning up and tie up some loose ends LOL!

Ok...now onto what my daughter calls my midlife crisis....if you have been following me, I told you that I did pass my class "M" license and with that began the shopping for a bike to ride. I had found a new one (beautiful red Honda 750) and the price was really good (since it was a '09 model and they wanted to sell it to make room for the winter ATVs) but after DH and I did a lot of talking, we decided that a used one would make more sense....since I would freak out the first time I got a scratch on a new bike!

In any case, did a lot of looking in the newspapers, craigslist, etc and found a GREAT bike on ebay locally. It's a 2004 Honda Shadow Spirit (1100cc) and it came fully loaded (windscreen, saddlebags, custom seats, etc) for A LOT less than the new bike would have been and it only has 4,000 miles on it. Woo Hoo.....now there is only one little thing....the bike was customized by the previous owner....I'm not going to say anything else except to let the picture speak for itself.....at least it's ready for the end of the month bahahahah!

Nope, but I have a skill, and for me that is really what matters...who knows, maybe one day I will come out of a building and all of sudden asteroids will be falling from the sky and I need to get out of the area quickly and being that my car has been blocked in I see a motorcycle just idling (and the owner of course says take it) and I jump on....before I would not know what to do,but Now....I can jump on and go bahahahahahahahahahah!!!!

As promised, here is a little file that I'm sharing in all of the formats! I saw on a board that someone was requesting a Nubian Goat. Now as I have been to many a petting farms I knew exactly what it looked like! I love the long ears on these animals and their gentleness of them, so after looking through old pics, sure enough I was able to find one.

Whether you raise goats or visit a petting farm, this will make a cute accent on your page. I'm also including a silhouette of a baby nubian in the file as well.

I have been pretty busy getting new files up in the store and wanted to share a couple more with you:

The first is my Halloween Cauldron with Skulls which started out as a journaling block but then I got to thinking it could also be used as a photo frame by simply using the center oval as a template to cut out your favorite little trick or treating photo. I love when I start with one thing in mind and end up with a bunch of other options!

You can even enlarge one of the skulls and use it as an embellishment on a page or on the front of a scary Halloween Party Invitation, or how making a skull extra large and putting it in your windows or on your door?

The second file was inspired by all of the great homecoming and fancy holiday dresses that are showing up in the store! It's that time when couples go to dances and I wanted to create something that would be a great place to journal about the event (or even a picture frame)! You tell me if you like it!

Work has been going well, but after 10 hours there, the last think I really want to do is sit down on the computer...but a gal has to do....

We're looking at doing another camping trip sometime next month before the weather gets too cold and we freeze in the woods...this last trip I thought for sure I had lost one of the dogs....got a second? Here is a quick story:

On the last night we were camping, the temperature dipped down into the 40's. Now picture if you will a nice size tent (about 12 x 12) a king size air mattress, a quilt on top of that, and both DH and I have our own sleeping bags on top of us to keep warm (We both hate being confined inside). The dogs are curled up with each other at the foot of the bed and Guiness in a little carrier. Anyway, it's pretty cold and I take him out of the carrier and put him under the bag to keep warm and then I call my Daisy Pup and she comes up on my right side....yummmm...getting warmer but heck, we still have one dog and so I call him....Toby....TOOOBBBYYY...(now I'm getting a little worried) TOOOOOOBBBBYYYYYY! No movement. I reach down with my toe and prod him a little and call his name....Nothing! DH (who I have woken up by now) calls him and invites him up on the mattress...I'm looking at the dog and the first thing that flashes by is "OMG...the dog is dead! He froze...this is a horrible camping trip....etc etc.

DH sees no movement and actually gets up (what a concept) and gets a hold of Toby's collar and moves him and there you see Toby's bassett looking face go "Huh?? You were calling?" He then does get up on the mattress and things are right in the world again...even though DH thought it was funny, I really thought something bad had happened!

Now this picture I'm sharing is not the frozen morning, but another one where it was early (around 6:30) and everyone was still asleep. I was reading one of my novels when I looked down and saw everyone so comfy...so I took a pic...if this blog had sound o vision you would be able to hear all of the snoring (Toby's of course) as well as Guiness' purring!

Finally, I put a quick note on the Forum announcing my latest file. In case you missed it, here it is. It is called Postage Stamp Frames 2 Ways.

I thought to myself how great it would be to incorporate this idea into your card making and layout pages! This file comes to you 2 ways: First as an overlay so all you need to do is cut the frame you want out…how easy is that?!

Second, it comes as a pieced file so you have one background to which you can cut your photos or stamp little words or phrases on the little block and simply attach to the top. I thought it would be nice to offer both options so you can decide which way you prefer.

You have lots of choices on the sheets and the files are very easy to resize if you need to. You can even cut a couple out to make it appear as if you have torn them off a sheet...

I even used one with my new puppy to show his pic in the top area and then used the area below as a journaling block. Check out how I added the USA 44 on th image so it looks like a regular stamp...just think how cute it would be with a picture of your favorite people or pets! The neat thing is that you can play with it all you want and make it your own and unique. Resize to make as large as you want and can even reduce slightly.

I'm Back needing a Vacation from my Vacation!

Not really, but there always is a ton to do when one gets back that sometimes it feels like you need another vacation just to relax again!

Hi Everyone! Well after a week away I made it through another relaxing camping trip! I read 3 novels + 2 quickie Harlequin romances (which I found in the bath-house library LOL!), got eaten up by every insect known to man, burned my thumb and still found the time to laugh :)

We went to a lovely campground in Romney, WVA and set up our tent in a very picture perfect area of the campground (the rustic area of course!) where we had great views of the river and got to watch the train go by as well as listen to the herds of cows talk to each other. I even caught a glimpse of beavers swimming around! While it rained a couple of nights, because we were sheltered a bit under the trees, and the tent has a great awning, we were all comfy cozy and dry! As always we took the dogs including the new guy!

This is the first time that Guiness ventured out on his little kitty harness and I can say without a doubt, he was the best behaved "dog" of the 3! For the most part when we walked the dogs he rode on my shoulder but he would give off a little meow to let me know when he wanted to walk with the rest of the "pack". It was really funny to see him running just to keep up with Daisy and Toby, but he did.

Normally after we would get back from the walks there was an order to things....First, they would all get a drink from the water bowl and then Second, they would ALL collapse!

This of course would continue to be the case until day 3 when Guiness discovered how comfortable the water bowl actually was and took it over as his own personal lounge bowl. Good thing we had taken plenty of dog bowls with us so we had no trouble keeping them watered.

While I was away I did a lot of sketching of what was going on and came back with my new "Primitive Camping Collection" which I will be sharing with you in the next couple of days. I have just finished test cutting the files and I think there will be a little bit of everything for everyone!

Speaking of files, for you KNK users, did you see that Ileana is hosting a KNK Elements Swap?! I know I have mentioned this in the past, but this is a perfect way for you beginners as well as 'ol Pros to design a file and share it with others. The nice thing is that you will receive a bunch of free files for you to add to your ever growing collection!

My First Sale in what seems like Forever!!!

What else...oh yes...well, it's official, the G-Pup is a....drumroll please....boy!!!

He checked out well and is 9 weeks old (which is what we knew). We decided to make his birthday the 4th of July since it is easiest for us to remember. He got his first distemper shot and poor little guy was passed out for most of the afternoon. I don't think he was feeling too good but this morning I heard a rusting sound by my bed and there he was zooming all over the place so he is back to being his old (if you can consider 9 weeks as old) kitten self!

He goes back again in 3 weeks for his 2nd distemper and then at 4 months for the little snip which causes grown men around the world to cross their legs and groan!

I guess that's all and I'm not sure that I shared before, but as it is Back to School time, here is
the cute file I created for this time of year. Pick any colors you like for the backpack and lettering.

You can also write the date on the apple or even marquee select it and enlarge it to use as your journaling block. Hope you can all get some use for it and at 40% off how can you pass it up?!

Got a Gear Head?

Ok everyone, I promised to share a file with you today, for a short 24 hours, and so here it is (before it gets to the store!) For those of you with "Gear Heads" in your life, this is a cute one. You may ask, "who is a Gear Head?"...well the definition I found in the Urban Dictionary is as follows:

"A person who is into all things motorized. This can be cars, motorcycles, machines, planes, or boats, but specifically relating to the engine and power delivery. Knowing how to weld and machine metal are also traits of a gearhead."

I even include the occasional Mr. or Ms. Fix-it in the group!

Just think how cute this would look on a page with your little ones "helping to fix" the car, or taking apart something just to see how it works! This file would work great in conjunction with one of my new files just uploaded called "Gears & Sprockets".

Speaking of new files, I told you I have been busy! Take a gander of these files brand new to the store: "Time Out Timer" (the name says it all), a "Quick Hello Card Front" and finally since it's that time of year again, "Tractor Pull"!

Catching Up

Since the last time I posted it got pretty busy around here. My DD was getting herself ready to go back to school to finish her associates in general studies and at the same time start in the culinary program. Unfortunately, the "chefs" jacket and pants available at the school store are based on Men's Medium and up sizes, since interestingly, where she is female students are a much lower percentage of the class. While I am not a seamstress in any respect of the word, I am really good at pretending I am LOL! When all was said and done, the pants were shortened by 6+ inches and the medium ended up becoming a small fitted. On the first night of class the instructor used my daughter as an example of how everyone should look....bahahah...only if everyone else has a crazy crafting mother! She is so excited...so far she has won the challenges each night of class and the Chef appears to be impressed in this short span and while everyone else has been paired up with someone, she is her own group as he wants to "see what she can do". I told her I thought in a way it was a little unfair since everyone else will be able to count on someone else to help out and she said that was ok...she prefers not to have to and if she does need help, the Chef will do so. I am so happy that she is so happy!

For those who don't know, about 8 weeks ago we ended up finding a feral cat in our yard...well the truth is we didn't find her as much as DH was spraying around our tiny patio he got to the area behind out tall blackberry plants thus hitting her and she took off. My DH said OMG! there are kittens get a box quick and then that is where it all began. We brought them inside and thankfully none had been sprayed. We then pondered what to do because 1 - we didn't want a feral cat in our small patio and 2 - we didn't want a feral cat in our small patio. We called animal control who showed up and told us that if she were to take them they would be put down since it was 10:30 on a Sunday night and no one was there to take care of such young kittens (approx. 8 days since their eyes were just starting to open). She did leave us a trap to see if we could catch the mother and then she could take them all so that the mother could raise them and then when big enough they could be put out for adoption. In any case, she would come back the next day and take the kittens in since they had a list of people who foster who be be happy to in case the mom didn't come back....hmmmm ok...so we put the kittens in the back of the cage and set it outside and waited. DH went out since it was really dark and the night was cool and as he picked up the cage Mom cat who was laying "next" to it took off in the dark. Kittens were put in box with warm towels and we syringe fed them every 3 hours. The next day the officer came back and took all 3 of them and asked about the mother. We told her she had come but had not gone in. She said keep trying in the meantime she was going to get the fostering taken care of. You would think this was the end of the story but NOOOOOOO....around 3 in the afternoon I get a call from her asking if we had caught the mom. Now she knew we had told her that the cat only appeared late at night and we told her no. "Well" she says..."unless you can catch the momma by 3:30 the kittens will be put down as there are no foster parents since it is kitten season and it is FULL!!!!!!!!! What?!!

In the meantime, DH who "hates" cats is seeing me get upset and tells me that he's sure we can do it but that we could not keep them. I told the officer to let me foster them and she said she would check and call me back. I immediately called a good friend who lives on a farm with feral cats (all trapped and fixed) and asked her if she could take 3 in case we couldn't trap the mom and actually ended up having to foster them. After hearing the story she said absolutely so now it was a wait and see. I got the return call from the officer who told me I could not foster the kittens since I was not "licensed or approved" but that she could make it a return to owner if I got to animal control in the next 10 minutes before they closed! Talk about taking it to the wire!

So we run down, they give me formula and instructions on how to foster kittens and at the same time explain that if we can't catch the Momma then we will need to help the kittens to go to the bathroom since they don't know how to do it on their own. So for us it is important to trap the momma! "Use just 1 of the kittens as bait and you'll be fine". So there we are back at home. Syringe feeding these kittens (who by the way hate it all the way!) and get the trap ready!

Night comes and I put the largest kitten in the trap and wait. All of a sudden we see the momma appear. She circles the crate mewing...the baby is mewling back and scooting towards the front of the crate...Momma walks in picks up the kitten and takes off over the fence....WHAAAAAAATT!!! DH is like great now what do we do as we are looking at the other 2 kittens left in the box. Decision time....try to foster 2 kittens, one of which is the runt and not looking too good, or try to catch the Mom again and if we do then we know the 2 will survive but we will never be able to find the one she took off with. For the good of 2 we chose this path. This time I put the little guy in the back but as he moved only a little we knew the Momma would have to go all the way into the crate. We set it out again and sure enough she came back 1/2 hour later and we watched her walk into the crate grab the kitten and on the way out set the trap off so it pushed her out of the trap with a good slam on her bottom.

"That's it!" we took the last kitten out in a low box on a towel and waited for the Momma to return but she never did. I think the smack really scared her because she has never come back for the 3rd kitten at all. Sooooooooooo, this is the little one we ended up fostering just one kitten who we named Guiness (Cause he is tan with what we thought were black eyes....get it a Black and Tan...guiness beer LOL!)

And since the first thing shim (she he we still can't tell) is the dogs....Guiness thinks he is one too! Time has flown and Guiness who started out just under 8 oz. is now a little over 2 pounds! He is growing up fast and my DH who could originally fit him in his pocket and always said that he "hates cats" can always be found with Guiness on his lap petting him and talking to him....he says it's because he is vested in the cat...after all he came home every day to bottle feed him and watch the "tour de france" with him at lunch. I just think you can teach an "old dog a new trick!" LOL. Plus the dogs have been around him and to them he is just another one. Here they are finally calmed down and together:

Is it really possible that I fell off the face of the Earth???

First of all, if you still check in every now and then to see if I'm alive, then thank you very much! The fact is, I was abducted by aliens and then kept in this alternate universe where I had no time allowed to get on the computer and create files, answer emails, joke around on the Paperthreads Forum or essentially have a life.

Actually, somehow life got pretty hectic. We had some family emergencies (daughter had surgery and then recoup) and then work got crazy busy and I joined a gym. The plus side is that my daughter no longer doubles over in agony after eating, she had her gallbladder removed, which apparently was diseased at the age of 21!, Work is going well and Thank God, I have a job which I enjoy, and finally, I am getting in shape and have lost a little over 20 lbs. The downside is that by the time I get home I was exhausted and only wanted to enjoy dinner and relax watching tv or reading a book before my 8:30 bedtime...any later and it's hard getting up at 4:45am.

Now that work has lightened up, and I now have access again to the PT forum during the day, I will be able to join in again and drive you all crazy LOL!

Speaking of the forum, I'm sure many of you have already seen, but one of our Sister Designers, Carrie Schwartz and her family are going through a hard time. Happy Mothers Day!

I'm posting this a bit early because I'm expecting my Mom to come up for the weekend and the rest of the family to come over to celebrate!

I have been getting the house ready and working so I haven't had much time to get on here and share much lately. The garden has been loving ALL the rain and the plants are loving life. We've actually been eating some tasty radishes which has just made me all the more impatient for everything else to grow and mature...it must be God's way of teaching me patience.

He is good though. I spent yesterday at the hospital with my DD who was having horrible pain on the right side of her back...thoughts were Kidney Stones, Diabetes, Gallblader, etc. She has lost about 15 lbs in the last month without trying, always thirsty, having problems digesting food, etc. After extensive testing (blood work, CT scans), it turns out the pain is a UTI and instead of having the normal problems with urinating, etc, it appears the pain all went up into her back in the kidney area. All her levels are good, no diabetes, no kidney stones, gallbladder is fine. She has been given antibiotics, pain killers and anti nausea meds along with an order to see a gasterinterologist next week. Please keep her in your prayers that it is nothing major. She has been doing so well lately (looks like she is going to pass all her college courses this semester with A's).

So, I'm back to now catching up and finishing up some last minute things for tomorrow. I wish all of you a Happy Mother's Day and that you have love and laughter surrounding you!

Happy Earth Day, Updates, & Embossing Folders with your KNK.

Happy Earth Day (1 day early everyone!) I haven't offered a freebie in awhile, so remembering all of the activities my kids did in school I created this cut file to share in case you want to scrap this yearly event! Just go to the bottom of the post and your will find the links in the various formats (.KNK, .GSD, .AI & .WPC).

I hope everyone is doing well out there! Today, just like yesterday was rainy and cold, pretty different from the weekend we just had. It was so nice and warm that we were able to go to our local garden center and pick up tomato plants and get them put into their pots.

The square foot garden we set up on the side of the house is doing well and the snow peas and green bean seeds we planted have all stuck their heads out and are loving life and the rain LOL! I really love this time of year and while I hate the way that time flies, I really am looking forward to eating our first tomato, steaming up green beans, pickling beets and digging up potatoes. DH even rigged up a watering system that is made up of connectors and a timer so that even when we go away camping here and there, the garden will be watered and remain healthy...oh what a smart man I married .

Before I talk about the embossing with you I wanted to share with you a picture of a file I created as well as a finished layout by my great Design Team member Ginger. She had asked me if I had any files with work horses and wagons as she had some special pictures she wanted to scrap. For those of you who don't know me, I have the attention span of a gnat sometimes. I have so many files half started that if you were to ask me for something, chances are I have one. This was the case for this file. I had originally started it for a pumpkin patch layout but never got around to finishing it. Once Ginger asked me, it was just the push I needed to finish.

So here is the picture showing you how great her layout turned out. I especially loved that she used the "Hay" paper for the outline of the letters...it really brings it to life! I'm so very impressed by her work and will share some more of the great work she creates on my behalf! Finally, since it was rainy outside I was itching to do something new. When we were at the retreat in SC recently, my good friend, my Louise to my Thelma (aka Scramper75 aka Elizabeth)had brought with her her cuttlebug and various folders that she had purchased over time to emboss paper for use in backgrounds and card making. I was super intrigued and will admit that I cut a bunch of 4" x 6" pieces of cardstock and used her machine to emboss them. Coincidentally, Michelle demonstrated a product I had never seen before..material to make your own embossing folders which consists of a special thicker sticky backed paper and some clear folders. I know she is planning on carrying it in the store and you can bet I will be one of the first inline to purchase.

In the interim, I was trying to come up with a way to make my own and with the use of some cardboard envelopes (Courier or already used US Mail) as well as my trusty Xyron and my pasta machine, after some experimentation, I was able to (while pretty simple shaped) make my own embossing folder. If you don't have these materials, why not try a heavier weight manila folder or cereal box? I'm sure if you look around your house you will find something that will work for you!

I thought it turned out pretty cool and was even able to make one with my logo...it just took a little more time and patience LOL! I even went so far as to create a video which I have uploaded to You Tube.

While I call it Embossing with your KNK, if your machine can cut the thinner chipboards I think that you can use this same technique. This will work with your cuttlebugs if you have one and as you can see demonstrated in the video it works great with your pasta machine (just make sure it is set tight enough to really press the folder together for greater pressure and thus a more defined embossing. I understand that you can also roll it with a rolling pin though to tell you the truth I didn't try. If you are interested in watching the video, here is the link. Experiment and let me know if you try it and how it turned out if you get a chance! I'm really enjoying making these and will most likely be sharing some files so you can make your own.

I love this little file that was inspired by all of the fun I have when my kids come over and cook with me. It reminds me of making cookings and treats with them when they were little.

Now grown up, I love to see the looks on their faces when they are creating a wonderful meal!

My daughter made a Chicken Picatta and since we didn't have all of the "right" ingredients had to really work had at fixing the way too tart flavor of the sauce (I used that "Real Lemon" juice instead of Real Lemon juice and ugh!) by adding more chicken broth, thickening it and adding spices.

My son at Thanksgiving butterflied a turkey and we just sat there and between laughing and being horrified by what was being done to the bird really enjoyed the compliments about how delicious it turned out!

>What else has been going on? Well so very much! We had a wonderful Easter last week. My daughter started going to a new church a while ago and after a lot of thought and soul searching and speaking with the Pastor, decided she wanted to join and be Baptized. She, like all teenagers, went through her share of struggles and bad decisions, but I really feel this was a good one for her. We went to their Easter service and I could see how wonderful all of the parishiners are and got to speak with the Pastor who was very kind. I could really see that he cares about my daughter and is there to help her get closer and learn more of God's wonderful love.

We also went to my sister's house for Easter brunch and watched the kids go hunt for their eggs. Too funny to watch...every kid looking to make sure they got their fair share, etc. In the end bunny ears were eaten first and I'm sure tummy aches ensued in the evening!

I got some pics from Ginger of some cards she made as well as some pics from my DIL showing how the Rock and Roll Collection decorations turned out. I was impressed!

Anyway, have a wonderful weekend...if you are following the Bingo Game I'm hosting this month you will see that a number of words have been called...I'm trying to do a few here and there...today, I have some dog nose prints to remove from some windows...then I think I'm going to tackle the dreaded "junk drawer"!

Super Quick & Dirty Tutorial

You all know me by now and I am all about the quick and dirty method of tutorials so instead of writing it out I just finished a short little video.

There are so many things you can do and I will try to do a better one later, but for now check it out if you too have had questions. Remember my usual disclaimer, I'm not an expert, but this is what works for me!

Please Help Me Welcome...

My second design team member...Elizabeth...otherwise known as Scramper75.

For those of you who know her on the forum you may think, what a nice helpful gal...but for those of you who have met her in person you know she is a handful to say the least! I think I finally met my match (LOL!)

It was actually during out 11 hour drive down to SC and 9 hour drive back and after listening to her sing 100 bottles of beer on the wall for the millionth time that I finally broke down and asked if she would be interested in being part of my team to which she said "yes"!

I asked her to write up a short bio and this is what she shared:

"I have two children, a young lady (13) and a 9 year old boy. They are the main reason I scrapbook, to preserve the memories of their childhood. I started scrapbooking a little over seven years ago. I love the look of paper piecing but had no desire to cut them out by hand so about 2 years ago, I bought my first digital cutter, a craft robo. This opening a whole new world to me. A year later I upgraded to a KNK. I love being a part of Accents by Eddita because her files are so nice. I thank her very much for giving me the opportunity to create for her. I hope you enjoy her files as much as I do :)"

You know, while that sounds nice, I'm going to fill in a little bit of extra for you. Elizabeth was in the Army years ago. She shared some pics during her pregancy while at the retreat...I never knew that the military had camaflauge pregnancy pants...very sexy LOL!

She is currently in school going for her degree in Chemistry (yea Elizabeth!)while juggling work, family life and scrapbooking.

She also has a big heart and is one of the most honest and loving people I have had the pleasure to meet. I love being able to call her one of my friends and am very happy she is part of my team!

Coming Soon to the Store - Bunny File!

Wow...time for a quick catch up with everyone! Went to the Retreat hosted by Paperthreads last week in Charleston SC and got to meet a lot of people who up until now have only known by their forum member names...Can I tell you...EVERYONE was wonderful!

Now you know me...not much creating but a lot of talking and joking LOL! There were tons of make and takes which I still need to finish up in this lifetime, and as I do I will post pics of what I made here. Elizabeth (Scramper75) shared the driving to and from and was great company. I would take the drive with her again anyday!

Before we left, she got a sneak peak at my new file which will be coming to the store. It is called "Bunny Treats" and I hope it will be up and available this week. Check back here and when it is there I will let you know and provide you with the link.

Now Elizabeth was able to see it in person and really liked it, so since it passed her inspection I can now share it with you

Isn't it precious?! Now I know most people would assume Easter (you know Bunnies and Candy) but in reality, Rabbits are very kind and love to share all year round! I'm sure if you put this little guy on your desk and fill him with treats you will be the most popular person in town!

Now, while the file will come with photo step by step assembly instructions, as I am more visual, I created a assembly video for those of you who enjoy little movies

If you would like to make these for people who are not local to you, you can do what I did for my family: Cut out and attach all the parts and then mail the 3 pieces for the recipient to do the final assembly. You can print out the instructions and/or also send them to the link for the video.

I sent a couple to my Sister for my wonderful Nephew and Niece as well as to my Daught-In-Law for the 2 grand girls. Since I just finished the video today, I'm off to mail it to them LOL!

My new Creative Design Team Member! She has shared a lot of work in the Paperthreads Gallery and I'm so very happy that she answered my call when I was looking for a special person to join me in and with my obsession!

I'm really looking forward to working with her and seeing my files through her eyes and artistic interpretation :)

I asked her if she would write up a short bio so that everyone could get to know her a little more and she was gracious enough to do send it to me. So without any further ado, while you might know her as "GAMES", may I present, in her own words, GINGER!

"Hi Everyone!

My name is Ginger Sergent “Games” on the forums. I’m 39 years old and have been married for almost 3 years to a wonderful man “Bob”. We both grew up in here Ohio. We live in the county on 5 acres partially wooded. We don’t have any children but we do live with a Jack Russell Terrier, 2 house cats, 2 Quarter Horses, and 25 or so barn cats.

In 1993, I had a bad car accident that left me a disabled paraplegic. I’m very lucky to be here and I believe god had more for me to do. I am able to do things in a chair and I can walk short distances with forearm crutches. Because of this I no longer work outside of the house. Throughout my life I have been an employee for Kentucky Fried Chicken, Tractor Supply Co., a secretary/bookkeeper for a farm implement co., IT for them and my local fire department, as well as my family members and friends. I also, am a part-time Mary Kay Consultant.

I started doing crafty things as a little girl when my grandma taught me how to crochet. Making snowflakes, scarf’s and then blankets. I did this in the evenings and off season from showing horses. Then photography and scrapbooking became a big part of my life.
I’ve made many types albums.

Then on a sleepless night, I saw a commercial ad for the Cricut. Like many I thought it was the only cutter out there. Boy was I wrong! After looking online I soon found many other cutters. Then I found Paper Threads and purchased a KNK Element. What a wonderful place and Michelle is the best, along with the designers and forum members.

This is where I met Tina (Forever Memories for You) and Eddita (Accents by Eddita), both awesome ladies and designers. I have accepted their design team challenges. Well I’m the lucky one. I love it! I just hope I can make them proud. Thanks Ladies! Well that’s about it, back to cutting and life.

Now...onto my "Did you know" question...I am if nothing else a fanatic for something other than my KNK...now I know that is hard to believe, but I am. What could it be? Shoes? Clothes? Jewelry? Makeup? The answer to those is No, No, No and NO!

So here goes....tell me if this is a big surprise...but it's cool Kitchen Gadgets! So....today I went to Sams Club at lunch and was wandering around a little when I got to their clearance area and what did I find??? You'll never guess, so I should just tell you, but I figure why tell you when I can show you?

Here goes....now it might be dweeby for some of you, but I have actually wanted one of these since I first saw them for sale a couple of years ago but they were WAY to cost prohibitive for me (think around $ 200!) Anyway, this is what was sitting in the clearance area for only $ 60! An AEROGARDEN and it came with bonus items...coooool!

So I had the perfect place in my kitchen to set it up and I did! So this is what it looks like when you put it all together. There I was in the kitchen and reading the step by step directions.

First thing it tells you is to fill it up with 3.5 quarts of water. Well, um...what does that translate into cups? I haven't a clue...math stuff you know. Fortunatly I do have a computer which after googling comes up with the answer 13.999 cups...okay..so why doesn't the directions just say that?! Then I had to add the pods and the little domes and turn it on...can anyone say ahhhhhhhhhh!

When you turn it on based on what you are growing, there is a pump that pumps the water round and round and drips on the pods inside. Hence the hydroponic growing (like Future Town or World whatever it's called at Disney's Epcot - apogies for the Mouse Fanatics out there!). I dropped in some nutrients tablets and that's all I need to do. I should be seeing sprouting within the week...lets see how it works LOL! There are indicators when I need to add more water and nutrients...pretty exciting stuff...remember I am the person who also thinks the Ants are REALLY cool to watch!

Now the light has to stay on for 18 hours a day, luckily I can set the lights to turn off for 8 hours during the night..otherwise, I think that I would not do too well since I like total darkness at night! This kit came with 14 herbs. There is enough room for 7 so I picked out the ones I thought I would use the most. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it works. If not, I did ask and was told that I could return it for any reason if I am not satisfied. I really hope and am keeping my fingers crossed that I will not be returning it.

Well, we're sitting here with a winter storm watch for our area calling for between 6-12 inches! Now, I have heard this before so I really don't take much stock in it until I see it...feels cold enough, but still lol!

Things are going pretty well and I have been very constructive! I created 4 really cool files and joined them into 1 money saving collection. In addition, it is 50% off this month so you get everything for only $ 5.00! That's a huge savings and works out to only $ 1.25 a file!

I'm looking for a Creative Design Team Member! It's pretty simple really. I'm looking for someone who enjoys creating projects and would like to receive some free files.

You would simply choose one of my single files and then create something with it. You can use it on a card or think completley outside the box. It's up to you! You would then need to photograph or scan the finished product and upload to the Paperthreads Gallery. When you finish with one file then you can request another one and start the process over again! I will ask that you be able to create at minimum 1 project a month. If you can do more then I will consider that a BONUS!

Hodge Podge Challenge - The Poll is Up!

Hi Everyone,

Well Customer Appreciation Day was a success and I'm happy to announce that so was the Hodge Podge Challenge!

13 participants uploaded their photos to the gallery and the poll is now up! If you haven't already, please take a moment to peruse the 2 pages and cast your vote. There are so many wonderful choices that I'm so glad that you all are voting as I think they should all win!

Well, you all saw the way my paper started and how partially how it ended up after cutting, but I was waiting to share the card I made until everyone had uploaded their photos...so without further ado...here is what I made.

This was a lot of fun and I was actually able to use my sewing machine to add a little border around the front. The neat thing about this challenge is that you couldn't plan what colors or designs were going to show up! It was like a neat little surprise present LOL!

I hope you all try it sometime, I'ld love to see what you come up with!

At least that's how I feel right now LOL! There was so much going right into and on the day of the Customer Appreciation Day that I have spent the last couple of days regrouping.

I hope everyone had a wonderful day and enjoyed the free offerings and all of the games and challenges on the board!

I'm pretty excited that so many people took me up on my Hodge Podge Challenge. I just wanted to give you a quick peek of what my messy paper looked like after I cut it out:

Isn't that neat...the challenge was really one geared to show you how easy it is to make your own one of a kind designed by you cardstock!

I did make a card with it which I will share a little later once everyone has put theirs into the gallery. Laury jumped right in and posted her pic to the gallery. Now she killed 2 birds with one stone by using Jan's flower challenge and mine together for a super cute card! Make sure you check back and see the other ones that should start to trickle in!

Ok Everyone, the day is almost here...the 2nd Annual Paperthreads Customer Appreciation Day!

...until Customer Appreciation Day at Paperthreads! I'm so excited and I'm hoping that you are all looking forward to it as well!

I'm going to be hosting a HODGE PODGE challenge on the forum but need you to do a little preparation for it...so get out a piece of white cardstock (I'm working on 8.5 x 11 since not everyone can do a 12 x 12) and pull out your rubber stamps and pads and go nuts! It doesnt' matter what colors you choose or what stamps...the more the merrier! In the end you are going to end up with a pretty good mess but trust me, you will like what you end up with. Here's a sneak peak at my stamped page:

Thank goodness I have quite a stock of rubber stamps thanks to my most extraordinary talented younger sister! If you haven't checked out her blog and are looking for some cool card ideas, just click on this link. She is amazing and so are here cards! I love the details she puts into them. It's not just big (and as she would say MUCH OLDER) sister pride talking here, I really love everything she has made me and I have kept them all too! The craft gene runs strong in our family...even my cute Phoebelishus niece likes to get into the act!

I Got a Fever and Ant Video

Ok, so I KNOW you all think I am crazy so in order not to disappoint any of you, I have attached a little video so you can see the gals at work! My sister says my nephew enjoys looking at the ant pics so Camden-buddy, this is for you:

Aren't they the neatest things? They just keep working and doing their job (whatever that is!) Sadly, since we do not feed them (since the gel is their food and water) I don't think they really know what to do with themselves. Maybe we will do a "dirt" ant farm in the future...hey what can I say, these are the first animals that are literally NO MAINTENANCE!

This has been a pretty busy week at work so by the time I get home, after a 10 hour day I have been looking forward to a nice dinner and cuddle time with DH and movie. I have been enjoying the plethora of choices from Netflix and here are some recommendations (or not):

The Women -OK, while DH always wonders what he has done to deserve a chick flick, I must say I was wondering the same thing with this one!) It had some funny moments but the story didn't hold me and I spent my time just staring at Meg Ryan's bad plastic surgery. Thumbs down.

Rambo - Did you know Sylvester Stallone is in his mid 60's? You wouldn't know by watching him go in this one. Very bloody but the subject matter (burma) is too. I will say that I was riveted by this one which I think by far is the best one since the original. DH & I gave it a thumbs up. My favorite is watching the special features and the making of...very sad state the world is in!

Henry Poole is Here - I'm not sure why I put this on my queue but this was a very sweet story about a man who has been told he doesn't have long and how while he tries to give up the people around him and life just don't let it happen. Touching and Spiritual and not too sappy...again both DH and I gave it a thumbs up. Note while the plot line says he leaves a fiance, she apparently hit the cutting room floor lol!

We have a couple to watch this weekend: A Man Apart (Vin Diesel as a DEA agent) and Apaloosa (western with Jeremy Irons and Viggo Mortenson) so DH will be happy as they are not chicky in the least LOL!

Finally, just want to share my latest file. I just sent it to the store for uploading so it should be there soon. It was inspired by the SNL skit with one of my favorite actors Christopher Walken....where he played a record producer working with Blue Oyster Cult....you know the one...where he has a fever...a fever whose only prescription is: MORE COWBELL!!! If you haven't seen it, here is a link...makes me laugh every time!

You have to understand, I grew up with a brother who could basically play any instrument he picked up and a sister who was great on the flute...me...well while my dream was to play drums, that dream was quickly squashed! Inside of me however is a pecussionist just waiting to come out...I keep joking that the cowbell is the perfect instrument....imagine going to a school band recital and listening to an orchestra a cowbells instead of violins...woo hoo I'm there LOL!

Anyway, I hope everyone has a great weekend...have a couple more files to finish up.
